Broadway for Sonakshi Sinha
Sonakshi Sinha's turn as a Bengali woman living in the sepia tinted 1950s in 'Lootera' has landed her an offer from theatre mecca Broadway.
A source told TOI, "A theatre group based in New York has approached her for a Broadway adaption of O.Henry's 'The Last Leaf'. She recently got a call from them and is really excited about it."
The Vikramaditya Motwane film, loosely based on O.Henry's acclaimed short story, showcased Sonakshi in a never-seen-before avatar, with her performance lauded by both critics and fans.
The source added, "Her acting in ' Lootera' caught the eye of the theatre group. The play's Broadway run is planned for the coming summer. She will look at her diary and take a call soon."
A stint on Broadway is a coveted gig as Hollywood's A-listers often perform in the theatre district of New York. Sonakshi remained unavailable for a comment but her spokesperson said, "Yes, she has got an offer to perform there and she will take a call soon."
