Harder to be a star kid than an outsider?!

I've never understood why EVERY star kid gets an entry into Bollywood while thousands of talented actors are struggling to even get small parts in Bollywood films. Guys like Tusshar Kapoor, Imran Khan, Zayed Khan, Fardeen Khan, and of course Abhishek Bachchan all got into Bollywood despite being bad actors solely because of their families. What really pisses me off though is when people from the industry, or even worse, star kids themselves say that it's harder to be a star kid than an outsider. Really?! That's the BIGGEST lie ever and just an excuse for them to continue the unfair process of choosing star kids for lead roles over outsiders. Think about it logically, how could it be harder to be a star kid than an outsider? First of all, star kids have a much easier entry into Bollywood than outsiders. Of course, then people argue that everyone has much higher expectations from star kids than outsiders. Well too bad, if you get an easy entry into Bollywood then the least you could do is live up to everyone's expectations and if you don't it's your fault. Both Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan are perfect examples of star kids that didn't take anything for granted and look at them now! Anyways, I just wanted to make it clear to people that they should not be brainwashed by these excuses because it's just a pathetic way for the industry to justify the nepotism that's been going on for decades.

That is one dialogue which star kids are taught even before A B C D.

Anyways what is difficult being a star kid?? Getting opportunities again and again in the hope *kabhie toh audience accept karegi* , inspite of being talenless, average looking and not fit for the industry??
If this is difficult, then I think outsiders, who want just one chance to prove their talent, but sadly most of them do not get it, would love to swap their lives with these star kids.

Fools !!

Obviously outsiders have a wayyy harder time in comparison to star kids/kids of producers/people within the film fraternity. It is bloody difficult to get a good break- only a small number of filmmakers are willing to cast newcomers (usually in those small budget films) through auditions and stuff- so competition is tough as there are so many eyeing the same role! And even after the break, there is so much to be done to ensure that you keep getting work- PR, maintaining a stylish image, networking right, making right decisions in BW with regards to relations with filmmakers, image to be showcased, choosing films, terms of work, interviews etc- EVERYTHING matters and not just talent, and there is no one to guide/help outsiders in all this, they learn by themselves slowly. Not to forget that you also need to spend a substantial amount of money on PR, looking presentable at the right places, gymming, preparing for a role etc. which those from modest households find difficult to arrange. Star kids have it easier with regards to the first break at least, and that they get guidance and also have a lot of media interest around them. Plus their connections and goodwill enable them to get more work in case of things not working out for them.

The only downside is the comparison to their family members and that their failures get highlighted more.

I agree, as much as I like Kareena (as an actress) now, there is NO denying if she wasn't a star kid she would have been finished within the first couple of years of her career. She was giving atrocious over the top performances in flop films, one after the other and STILL directors were casting her. An outsider would never have been given that many chances.

Same with Abhishek, and Imran.

Abhishek wouldn't be getting a look-in right now if it wasn't for the Bachchan name, after the amount of side throw-away roles he's played, and flop films he's starred in he wouldn't be getting films like Bol Bachchan. Back when he first started he was, like Kareena, giving one flop after another he gave close to 15 flops in a row from his debut, and still he managed to get roles, that too roles like Yuva, Sarkar Raj, Guru all off the back of his surname and the hype surrounding his relationship with Aishwarya.

Imran, is decent compared to Abhishek. However he gets way too much recognition considering the mediocrity of his work.

It's obviously simple that star kids do have privilege. Arguing on this is as silly as arguing about whether we need oxygen for breathing or not. Come on first of all, they do have easy access to movies, second most of the times they are very rich, and that definitely has its own benefit. Now compare this to a struggling talented actor, hailing from a normal middle class family, who doesn't have all these privileges. So of course it helps them, and they should just accept this. Because this happens in every sphere of live, in every business.

If you read what I wrote then you'd understand that this isn't supposed to be an argument. It's a rant on how the industry or star kids makes pathetic excuses to justify themselves.

I agree with Nikii's pov. Outsiders struggle to even get one chance whereas things come easy for star kids. Just have a look at the industry right now and spot how many outsiders have made it big as actors. There are only very few and that tells you how much outsiders have to struggle to get a proper break. You don't get producers lined up at the doorstep for outsiders whereas the star kids get all the exposure and links they need

I read what you wrote, and I got it that you are not making this argument. What I wrote, was in general, not a reply to you.
