What issues do you want to see in Bollywood?

I've seen a lot of people complain that Bollywood doesn't produce many quality movies and instead recycles the same old masala concepts again and again. Although some directors do try different things, "art" films rarely get as much recognition.

The honour killings topic made me think why don't we have more issue-based movies?

Some movies that have tackled issues include:

- Peepli Live (farmer suicide)
- Noone Killed Jessice (corruption)
- Love Sex aur Dhoka, QSQT and even Ram Leela recently (honour killing)

I'd like to see a movie on how wombs are "rented" in India. 1/3 surrogate births occur in India. It's literally a business. There are no laws to prevent it and it's inexpensive.

And also on human trafficking, especially child prostitution. Movies like Umraon Jaan almost glamorize the issue.

What issues do you think need to be shown on the big screen?

More than issues I want to see more female oriented movies where maybe a 45 year old housewife/working woman is the lead or more movies about female bonding. Kahaani and EV were a good start but nothing much happenned in 2013. Hopefully 2014 will have something substantial.
Ah yes! I also want to adult comedies from the female POV...how about a Grand Masti2 with a primarily female cast?

I actually want to see more woman oriented films. Our society has tend to put the men in front of the woman. So I want to see more films where the actress takes the attention.

I Don't know about Issues because I am very much sure Bollywood can't justify them like shows like crime patrol and gumrah do but I would like to see remake of Arundhati a telugu movie starring Anushka shetty and sonu sood..It was one powerful movie and shows how strong can women be.😊

Bollywood itself is having so many issues. 😆 I want to see a movie on nepotism in bollywood or bollywood's obsession with white skinned women. 😛

I watch Bollywood movies for entertainment so I'm not sure what kind of issues I want to see in Indian movies. As long as the movie is sensible and enjoyable, I don't mind watching them despite who acts

But like CPR said, I too wish there are more female oriented movies

haha, really?! I've never thought of this before! 😆

But I agree that after Kahaani and English Vinglish, there hasn't been a female-oriented movie.

Issues that you mentioned are good but i personally like to see bollywood movies to be entertained..an escape. I dont like ott preachy movies..but dont mind movies that are made well and have a social cause behind it!!

Yes! I never thought of that! Not just Bollywood but India's obsession with fair skin. And definitely nepotism as well. I dunno if a director would ever have the guts to make that though.

Now now you two don't give ideas to that Fashion / Heroine director. He's going through a rough patch at the moment 😆
