So, I loved it. Let me try not to be biased. Though I'm not a fan of Masala much, but the reasons I loved it for ---
1. Sona/Shahid's surprisingly great CHEMISTRY!
2. Shahid's awesome DANCING STEPS.
3. Shahid's ACTION scenes.
I'm not a fan of PD's direction. I don't know why people like it --- I never saw Rowdy, but saw his second movie. I thought maybe it was his weakest work but I guess, this is how he directs.
I have to agree with critics on two things: One, indeed, they could have told us more about the setting. I read it on Twitter when someone tweeted that ya should definitely ignore the first 15 minutes. Indeed. I don't know what in the world PD was thinking!! Who was Shahid? How he came to be there ... nothing was mentioned about his BG or the village. Second, that rape scene indeed bothered me a bit. I think, it was the screaming. Bothered as in it made me uncomfortable even if it was there for few seconds only. To begin with, there was no reason for em to show it! They could have done without it. I find it was an unnecessary scene. He could have shown the officer's character in an other way. But the good news is that it comes in the beginning of the movie --- so later, you get so involved with rest of the movie that you totally forget about it. There's always something going on.
Man o man! I can't wait to see full version of these songs on YT! Indeed Shahid is a marvellous dancer! I'm glad that PD did not show all his steps in the songs. It was sucha pleasure watching him dance the way he did.
Small things indeed come in BIG packages! He may be small, but he looked damn good in those fighting scenes. Seeing it was his first time (Even though he did a bit in PPNH), he was damn good job with the fighting scenes!! He looked convincing to me --- Don't know what critics were talking about.
Last, but not least ... My favourite part of the movie was ... Sona and Shahid's chemistry! Surprisingly. I so want em to do an other hard core rom movie now! I just couldn't get enough of em in the movie. Maybe, it was the boldness of their love story ... or I don't know, what! I think, after PC/Sasha ... I really enjoyed his romance with Sonakshi!!! They were too good. And him calling her his lollipop? That was cute, that was fine ... if people come out of their dirty minds, they'll see it wasn't a big issue at all. I loved their Saree scene though!! 😉 And if only ... there was more to that room scene. Ahem. 😳
Oh, and I do want to admit ... I also liked Shivraj's and Sona's water scene. Don't know why. Must be the tension it showed. I don't know...I found, it was a good, differ scene.
I adored Sonu Sood. He was hilarious!! That Bullshit scene was ROFLMAO!!
Shahid was brilliant!! And Sonakshi was good. She really suited Shahid. Think Promos did not do justice to em ... Maybe it's only me, mind ya, but I don't think I will stop gushing about em any time soon. 😆
Oh and critics also complaint about that long fight scene Sasha had with Sonu Sood? I personally did not mind that at all, cause it reminded me of those SRK type of actions scenes --- Junooni ones ... which I'm very much fond of. 😆
All in all, will definitely give this movie 4 for Sasha's hard word and S/S's chemistry. 👍🏼
