Looks can only take you so far.

Plus Bollywood being immensely male dominated, the men get away with everything. The women, don't.

If this was an actress. She would've been out of work a long time ago or if she was very good-excellent, she would've been a character actor.

What makes my blood boil about Bollywood is that, the men chase Success but the women need to reach Excellence, to obtain Success!!

umm not really! in fact when your not conventionally good looking people tend to focus on your talent more (even if you don't have any)

like ash is talented to some extent- acted well in some movies but her forte always remained her looks- her looks overshadowed the talent she has in some amount!

where as kajol's forte is her talent- not that she isn't talented but put a girl with a more conventionally pretty face in DDLJ and you will read many reviews praising her face for a paragraph then coming on performance!

I'm talking about judgments made purely on looks, the sort of judgements one makes on first impressions, and some people won't even give someone a chance if they're not attractive enough. Ofcourse, our preconceived views do change if we give people a chance.

A popular example of this is Susan Boyle, why was she such a big deal?, when she first appeared on the stage of Britain's Got Talent, the audience and judges were sniggering at her, people had already made up their minds that she was gonna make a fool of herself, until she started singing, immediate reaction of shock and astonishment followed, she received a lot of media attention, now why was this?, sure she was talented, not the best voice in the world, but what made her such a big deal and a sort of novelty is that she could have such a talent with a face like that.

My mama and mami met Shahrukh off screen 3 times and they told me that off screen he looks like a normal human being. Make up can do wonders. In other words they told me he looks very ugly and you wouldn't even be able to tell that this was THE Shahrukh Khan, king of Bollywood. But his personality makes up for his not so good looks. I beg to differ and think he is a very attractive man! But point being is that for the general public, Shahrukh's looks are average. He doesn't have that body girls die for. But he has that charm, simplicity, and cuteness/hotness to him. But look at his immense talent. He may not be the best looking actor out there, but his talent speaks for itself.

celebs are also human beings...and they don't come from any other planet...(btw I am jealous of your mama and mami😛) and about srk, his looks are underrated because he's not the typical "male beauty idol" with gora chitta rang(an obsession which asians are obsessed with, and mostly people unconsciously only on this basis dismiss many wonderful and beautiful women on this basis like kajol, rani etc) and a physique which in normal life you can't find anywhere. but heck he is smart, witty and intelligent...all in all...amazing.(Honestly I don't know why people are so much obsessed with looks...mere looks are fine only for one night stands, and mostly people in India don't approve of one night stands(although looks dont even ensure that your one night will be good.😛)

I really liked dhanush in raanjhnaa, I think once u see someone act and turn on the charm the initial impression u had on thier looks fades away.
