MUCH ADO ABOUT TRAILER
Superstitious Aamir Khan apparently asks makers of his next to postpone trailer launch
The festival of lights has been auspicious for Aamir Khan for more reasons than one. The actor has, in the past, chosen Diwali to release the trailers of his films, such as Taare Zameen Par (2007), Ghajini (2008) and 3 Idiots (2009).
Wanting to keep the tradition going, it seems he requested that the trailer of his next, Dhoom:3, also release around Diwali. We have come to know that producer Aditya Chopra was apparently readying to release the promo 10 days before the festival (on October 20), but Aamir has requested him to postpone it to sometime close to Diwali. Now, it will release on October 30, just three days before Diwali.
"Adi didn't have any issues with delaying the trailer launch," says an insider close to Aamir.
Many reports suggest that the makers wanted the launch on a later date to steal the spotlight from Hrithik Roshan, whose superhero film, Krrish 3, releases the next day. Aamir couldn't be reached for a comment. Also, we've been informed that the makers of the film have spent close to 2 crore on the trailer. A major share of the money has gone into converting it into the IMAX format, something that the film will be presented in as well.
When contacted, an official spokesperson of the production house confirmed the news, saying, "Dhoom:3 is the first Hindi film to release in IMAX. Therefore, to give a glimpse of what to expect, we are releasing the theatrical in the same format. Obviously there is a cost involved."
