Shahrukh Khan: Box office collection records meant to be broken

Mumbai : Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan feels that box office collections records are meant to be broken.

"I don't do films to make records. Every film will make some record...It's stupid to think records will not be broken. Any good film will do well and it feels fantastic when such film does well. It's important to make better films. The film (Chennai Express) had finest commercial director... great actress Deepika...It feels heartening to see this kind of response," Shahrukh Khan said.

Shahrukh Khan and Deepika-starrer 'Chennai Express', directed by Rohit Shetty and released in August, has earned Rs 220 crore at the box office.

"There are so many platforms to release a film today.

It's natural there won't be a golden or a silver jubilee today. There's speed today in terms of theatrical release and enjoyment of a hit film is amazing," he said at an event.

With the trend of sequels, the actor ruled out any "concrete plan" to make any second instalment of 'Chennai Express'.

The film will be premiered on television tomorrow.

The actor said director Rohit Shetty and his co-star Deepika deserved awards for 'Chennai Express'.

"She (Deepika) looks beautiful. She is very hardworking and a good actress. She was amazing in 'Cocktail', 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani'. Deepika has done a good job. She made the film (Chennai Express) lovable and hit through her role as she represented south India," Shahrukh Khan said.

Shahrukh will be seen with Deepika in Farah Khan's 'Happy New Year' along side Abhishek Bachchan, Vivan Shah, Sonu Sood and Boman Irani.

"Farah has said dancing in this film will be difficult.

We are working on this film and its great fun," Shahrukh Khan added.

Shahrukh Khan also rubbished reports of his playing a Gujarati don in Farhan Akhtar's next film.

Shahrukh to celebrate first Diwali with AbRam

In May this year, Shahrukh Khan and Gauri were blessed with their third baby. Their third child AbRam was born through surrogacy and he brought bundle of happiness in their life. Shahrukh was concerned about AbRam's health but he is recovering and he is happy about it. Shahrukh and his family can't stop smiling since AbRam was born. With festival season on, the Khan family is enjoying every moment with the new arrival. This would be Shahrukh and Gauri's first diwali with their new born.

On being asked about his first Diwali with AbRam, he exclaims, "Every day is a festival when AbRam is around. The best part is my child is healthy now. He has brought immense happiness in our lives."

2013 has been tremendously successful for Shahrukh Khan. Chennai Express' broke all the box-office records and became a milestone.

When King Khan was asked whether Chennai Express' sequel is on the card, he said, "There has been no serious thought given to it although, Rohit Shetty has mentioned about it on a jovial note. Let's see, how everything falls in place. So far, I'm concentrating on Happy New Year."

There were rumors that Shahrukh Khan will be singing in Happy New Year'. To which he reverts, "No, Farah Khan has made it clear only acting and dancing. She doesn't want to go beyond that. In fact, I have never worked in an ensemble star cast. I had fun working with Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani."

Happy New Year' starring Deepika Padukone as the female lead is slated for next year Diwali release.
