I usually avoid all Rohit Shetty movies but she carried CE forward for me. I think she's improved loads since her initial days and most of all, she's smart when she chooses her roles. The girl who's been in huge hits like Race2, CE and YJHD this year was the same one who did CCTC with Akshay. She's still so young. She's got lots to learn but I think she has that determination in her.

How much more time does she need? She has been here for 6 years and done about 14-15 films. Out of which only 3 she acted good in (that too if you compare it to her own standard)

There are actresses who have debuted AFTER her, who face less criticism for their talent than Deepika.

As for this topic, She is not good as a solo heroine. Infact, Jacky outdid her in Race-2 and even in Desi Boyz, Chitrangdha was way better.

She always works with big stars opposite her. I agree, if she does something like Heroine or Saath Khoon Maaf, then we will know if she's good enough.

Rani, Vidya, Kareena, Priyanka have all proven themselves in this regard.

Jacqueline did not outdo Deepika in Race 2. They were both utterly horrible. That entire movie was horrible and should be deleted from the history of mankind.

But I do agree with you that Deepika has had many opportunities to show her acting skills. I for one, don't think that she is an amazing actress but she has shown a huge improvement in the last couple of years. So she's good, but not great. She's no Madhuri or Sridevi, but she has reached the heights of fame that they have. When it comes to Deepika, I think she seems better than she is because there is a lack of talent in the new female stars and expectations are lower than they were during Juhi's Madhuri's or Sridevi's time. Obviously, it has to do with script and director too. I definitely believe that some directors and some films bring the best out of someone. But a good actor/actress can do exceptional regardless of these factors.

The truth is, out of the batch we have to choose from, she's one of the best right now. But when something better comes along, who knows?
