Leave the skin tone aside, Ppl with tattoos too are typecast and often find it difficult to get a decent job. Even though they are fully qualified,a tattooed person will be chosen if there is no other option left.

Lol I know Indians play the victim card too often even though they are equally prejudiced as everyone else.

I was just about to post this. DejaVu, I think Indians in India generally are in a denial. For example, when Slumdog was released they couldn't for once accept the idea of India being projected as dirty and dark through(Frieda).

Inverse racism. The discrimination in employment is mostly due to the related industries. Hispanic and Latinos being discriminated against is because they prefer to take a lower wage and push out skilled/lower wage industries regulations. This way, they can work for a lower pay and still survive. They have to keep moving until they find few cents more. Most people here prefer to have a desk job, with no little work. Those jobs are either not in demand or have been stagnant. Hispanic and Latinos are not a minority group anymore. They consist of 51% or more of most southwest and south states. Also, they don't pay taxes on the low wages they earn, and they still get to have the perks of social programs. I wouldn't call it racism, but more of moochers. One more reason, Republicans want to cut social programs is because people who aren't citizens are abusing it. When Republicans cut funding for social programs, liberals tend to think its racism. Remember, there is a personal responsibility. Hispanics and Latinos face the most discrimination in the States. This is off topic: Even if this was the same case with Indians in United States, they also face the glass-ceiling racism. Indians don't have the alpha personality to take a role of a CFO/CEO. Also, stereotypes are dead nowadays, I can't remember the last time someone said all Indians own gas stations or Mexicans cut grass for a living. Rather a changing world here now, expect for India... its all backwards.

Inverse racism: Blacks are also racists towards their own group. Some do not preferred to be called African-Americans or Black. They prefer American. They also don't want to associate with the beat down neighborhoods. It all boils down to the isolating oneself from the "group."

p.s. umm seriously? people are f**king comparing the States with India?
I don't think there is any comparison. Dynamics of racism are very different here than they are there. I wouldn't even call it racism, its just people being stupid because they aren't cultured enough. Anyways, its not like its everywhere you go.
I don't like the comparison done here. Who brought this even on this topic? Keep it on India. I completely agree with Nandita. I'm sure her opinions are rational. I do think Indians are racists. Even my family members tend to judge people based on their skin colors. Darker you are the worse you might be. Thats exactly how they think. I grew up in a convserative, narrow-minded folks. They push themselves away from other cultures.

Its sad some times that people from north East (Ind) don't get recognized in their very own country.
People outcast them the most.

Fair and Lovely got nothing to do with racism. In India, dark and fair aren't different races. People first need to know what racism means. About the US, the name Trayvor Martin strike something?

People who say Indians are racist because of Fair and Lovely ads, need a crash course on the basics of racism.

Even in bollywood...almost every part of the country is represented in some or the other way...but not North East...the only exception I can think of is Danny Denzongpa! (Gosh, he used to be so good looking!)

Denial over what? Fair n lovely/fair-bride-desiring matrimonial ads aren't "racist" no matter what a bunch of ignorant people might bleat. Colourist, maybe. Stupid, yes. But RACIST..Huh?? 😆

Krystal : I think in spur of the moment Nandita has used a wrong word.
She is actually talking about colorism.

She is Indian too.
