I like Varun but he's too short. I liked ARK because he's too tall and he seems humble and funny in interviews so NO varun for aashqiue 2

The movie have flopped if varun was d lead. That role was made for ARK nf he had put his soul in it. Cant imagine any1 else

No, that would've ruined the entire film. Had RJ been a film on a pop boy band member, like say one of the One Direction boys then I would've maybe said yes..but not RJ from Aashiqui 2.

RJ was someone who had a certain aura about him..he had this personality which I don't see in Varun. Varun lacks the same kind of screen presence which ARK has. I even noticed that in SOTY..I felt Sid overshadowed him in the screen presence dept completely. I don't know why, but Varun isn't the kind of actor who could do every kind of role not because he can't act, but because he lacks this certain kind of charisma onscreen.

I don't know if Varun should or shouldn't have b/c Varun is quite the talented actor. But Aditya MADE that movie and of course the songs.

That certain darkness and broken-ness that the character needed was emulated perfectly by ARK. I think it's one of those roles that ARK was made for. Have you ever seen the audition tapes of some of the other actors that tried out for the part?! Karan Wahi did and Amit Tandon and some other TV actors...they were totally wrong for the character. Now I see why the Bhatts went with ARK after doing auditions for newcomers all across India. Everyone else was either too OTT or took love too lightly. ARK does some of this best work those his eyes--extremely expressive like Hrithik's or Ranveer's. That's why this movie did so well even though it dragged quite a bit--ARK. He played it to the T.

I guess I was one in the minority who liked Varun better than Siddharth in SOTY!🤔 Not only was his role better written, but Varun's performance also had an edge over Siddharth! Better looking between Sid and Varun? Frankly, till I saw the film, I could not even differentiate between both of them...they both looked very similar to me! I think Siddharth is good looking in a more traditional manner...tall, chiselled features, lovely smile and Varun is very chocolately...sort of like Shahid!

ARK...believe it or not, the biggest reason for which I saw YJHD was actually ARK's performance impressing the hell out of me in Aashiqui 2! And the fact that he is so not a conventional looker! He is tall, gawky and awkward...which I personally find rather endearing!😳😆 Its refreshing to see a normal looking guy in bollywood...one who doesn't have six pack abs or a waxed chest! Plus the vulnerability he brought to the role of RJ was something that only certain actors can bring...it is not just about acting...it is also about the way an actor looks...behaves...and Aditya has it in him!

I simply cannot see Adi playing the traditional Alpha male roles...but I can see him do wonderfully in the silent, brooding, intense sort of characters!

Amongst all the scenes in YJHD (I loved that film to bits😆) my favorite was the breakdown/argument scene between Avinash and Kabir...and I thought ARK not only stood on his own but actually overshadowed Ranbir in that one scene!

So to summarize my Ramayan, can I see Varun playing RK in Aashiqui. NO. But then, I can't even see Aditya playing Rohan in SOTY! Here we go!😆

Well said. Varun still has many years of ahead him to prove himself. Varun actually had better role in SOTY. His emotional/aggressive scene with his father impressed many, And indeed ARK can't play a cool dude (Casanova) role like Varun. Nor can he dance
