Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan had a starring role in Janmashtami celebrations at a special event held in Mumbai. He participated in the traditional dahi handi ritual and played "Govinda" in the celebrations.

The actor also danced to the tunes of some Marathi songs and recited some popular dialogues from his films.

SRK also appealed to the people present to respect women and their parents, a plea that struck a chord with the thousands gathered for the event.

It seems that SRK's Chennai Express dialogue emphasizing the "power of the common man" seems to have hit just the right note with fans.

Chennai Express saw a better feat on its 3rd Wednesday. Given that it was a semi-holiday for Janmashtami, the film saw a growth in its box-office numbers yesterday at the Domestic Box Office.
