I love the old Ramayan too..for me, they are the closest representation of Ram and Sita..no one can ever suit the characters as much as they did!

Btw I liked the portrayal of Sita in the film Lajja. Madhuri played the part in a skit and even though it was dramatic, I really liked how for once, Sita questioned Ram before the agni pariksha.
