yes she can...if this question was posed for sonakshi before lootera people wud have said the same..oh sonakshi cant do this coz she cant act and all...its a bit ironical to hail sonakshi as some one great esp wen most ppl have been dismissive of her acting skills before...deepika as an actress has been improving quite a lot..she was impressive even in her debut movie.her career is full of flops so any acting skills have been overshadowed by that...imo she was gud even in break k baad which is a flop movie...

^ can't blame them if they said that. Sonaski always played the flower pot roles so everyone was skeptical when they found out she had to play a challenging/different role/character in Lootera.

Pakhi was a director's heroine. I think we shud give credit to Motwane & Sonakshi implemented it well ofcourse. I think DP could have carried it off as well. She is no Nargis Fakhri & can do well if given the right direction. Will be interesting to see her in Ram Leela. Ofcourse, would she be able to pass off as a bong heroine is the bigger question! She is like Aish...will never pass off as a bengali sadly.

And you think Sonakshi can? I thought she was wonderful. I'm looking forward to Bullett Raja coz she is playing Bengali girl with actual Bengali dialogues. She also speaks bhojpuri in there as she becomes Bhojpuri star in the film

Haha, I was thinking of Ileana actually. 😊 From the current lot, she has amazing dialogue delivery too and is brilliant at emoting. So maybe she could have nailed this role closer to Sona.

No. Sonakshi looked so glowing and beautiful in her no-makeup look, which was the demand of the script. Deepika without makeup is not a sight for the faint-hearted.

And, the high point of Sonakshi's role was her perfectly-modulated dialogue delivery. Deepika would have fallen flat in this department.
