Back then she didn't know that she would "have" to marry an actor in order to stay relevant and get work in the industry.
That's exactly what Aishwarya, Rani, Katrina and Kareena are doing. They know if they were to marry an outsider that they would be out and it would be hard to get work. Look at Karishma Kapoor, perfect example right there.
Its more of a business deal than marriage if anything. Otherwise why on earth would Kareena go for Saif? She can get anybody. Even Aishwarya and Rani. They are so much better than their partners ,its pretty clear what their intentions are.I don't blame them though, its a male dominated industry and u gotta do what you gotta do!
And her relationship with Saif was not a calculative move coz Saif was hardly the ideal bachelor in the practical sense. Come on, a man with 2 kids, divorced, inter-religious, slightly older? She wasnt even thinking of marriage when she fell for him and had just gotten outta a relationship with Shahid, who btw, she could have easily stuck with IF she was practical. He was on a huge career rise post Vivaah, single, unattached, young.
Saif was a gamble that miraculously worked out, and most people were skeptical. Gave em a year at most.
So maybe it's not that unbelievable that, I dunno, she genuinely fell for him without any ulterior motive. And if she wanted to just nab an actor and tie him down, wouldnt she have married Saif ages ago, if after all, the main goal was lets just settle down with an industry man before he can slip away. Why wait 5 years? Even arranged engagements with family interests might shatter ovwe a few years. For a relationship to work for 5, it has to have something a bit more legit than just ulterior motives.
And your entire reasoning is why would she go for Saif unless there was another catch is flawed coz it's assuming that it's a fact. It's an opinion. In your opinion, Saif is blaaah.
But in Kareena's eyes, he's like the best thing since sliced bread. She cites, here a there, a million things she loves about him, plugged into random interviews. Stories of how she was pulled towards him on the sets of Tashan were all over the place. She recites stories of his sense of humor, bike rides through the streets of Ladakh, dining, wine, walks.
It's really not that inconceivable that a girl could fall in love with him.
I doubt that only happened coz he's an actor. It could have been anyone.
But since she's working around actors, chances of her falling for actors outweigh other careers. It' s like how people question why so many actresses go for married men, well...most of the men they're working with are married. It's not like they prefer married men, it's just the majority.
That said, I'm sure her career IS important to her and she definitely discussed the prospects of her career post marriage. And Saif's supportive stance obviously mattered a great deal.
