Indian women should avoid going to countries like Singapore, Korea, etc to get plastic surgery or do their homework and find a physician who has experience in enhancing features of Indian women. Minimizing your jaw or cheek impants aren't for everyone and it certainly itsn't a good job if it is obvious!

Meet Vaani Kapoor, the newest fresh face find of Yash Raj Films. Charting the path from modelling to movies, Vaani will be seen making her debut with the much buzzed about Shuddh Desi Romance. In an honest conversation with Filmicafe, Vaani talks about the impracticality of moving to Mumbai and why she decided to finally pursue a long held dream.

Has acting always been on your mind or did it happen randomly?
Vaani: I would be lying if I said that I never wanted to be an actor or it just happened by chance. I always had a thought somewhere deep down and wished that I could be a part of films and an artist here. But to be honest it seemed impractical for me. I am from Delhi and moving out of there, shifting to a place where you don't know anyone be it in the industry or generally in the city, so coming to Mumbai seemed like a huge deal. My parents of course were worried about my safety, they are a bit protective. They have never even allowed me to go for sleepovers at a friends' place (laughs).

Can you set the record straight on how you got Shuddh Desi Romance?
Vaani: Yeah there have been rumors that I have been hearing as well that I barged straight into Aditya Chopra's office showed him my portfolio photos. He got impressed with my courage and confidence and gave me the film but that really did not happen, as much as I wish it was as easy as that. I had to go for several rounds of auditions. I do feel I am very fortunate that it wasn't as hard or tough for me as many, other talented people who are still struggling to get a good break in the industry. I am so raw and new. I haven't done a course or had any professional training when it comes to acting. I feel blessed and fortunate in that way but I really had to work hard to prove my potential. I believe Yash Raj Films only stands for talent. They encourage, consider and choose you on merit. They would never take you for a film on the basis of your looks or connections.
