And I am sure Salman will fade out...Salman's startdom is as much dependent on the masala..it is no coicindence that many masala movies did well...once that decreases which it is...and his horrible overhyped craps in D2 and ETT..especially bodyguard...people will loose confidence even in the Masala he did which was good (Dabangg and wanted )...

I think Aamir will sustain his market for a while...and SRK too...but Salman will fade out...as soon as one of his movies fail...you would struggle to see a young Salman fan in urban demographics...by I mean JUST salman hardcore fan

Even with 1000 of flops Salman never fade out people still go for Salman Khan thats the star power about him!!! so I guess his fan following just got increase day by day and never got decrease!!!

I knew YJHD would do well although majority of the forum assumed it wouldn't and I'm so happy for Team YJHD!! They deserve all the credit they get cuz it was such a sensible movie. I love Ayaan's work, Ranbir's movie choices and Deepika's acting

Oh sorry I swayed from the topic 😆

Billa, I think Khans including SRK are amazing. It's sad to see people writing them off just because the younger generation is doing so well. They should all enjoy their own space and keep on doing good movies

Will Salman Khan be tried for hit-and-run? Verdict likely today

File photo

Mumbai: A Mumbai sessions court will today deliver its verdict on actor Salman Khan's appeal against a magistrate's order for his retrial in the 2002 hit-and-run case under stringent charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Sessions court judge U B Hejib had fixed June 10 for deciding the appeal after arguments concluded a month ago.

Advancing his argument against invoking the grave charge of 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder' (section 304 part II IPC), Mr Khan's lawyer Ashok Mundargi had pleaded that the magistrate's order was "erroneous, bad in law and contrary to evidence on record."

The magistrate, the lawyer contended, had failed to appreciate that the actor had neither the intention (to kill people) nor the knowledge that his rash and negligent driving would kill a person and cause injury to four others.

The offence under this section attracts a ten-year jail term and can be tried by a sessions court.

Mr Khan was earlier tried by a magistrate under lesser charge of causing death by negligence (Section 304A of IPC), that provides for a maximum punishment of two years in jail.

However, in a twist to the case, the metropolitan magistrate, after examining 17 witnesses, had brought forth the more serious charge of culpable homicide against the 47-year-old actor and transferred it to a sessions court for re-trial.

Mr Khan's lawyer also filed written submissions on the appeal and made oral arguments.

Public Prosecutor Shankar Erande while opposing Mr Khan's appeal said the magistrate had rightly invoked the charge of culpable homicide as he had committed a serious offence.

Mr Erande argued that a prosecution witness Ravindra Patil (now deceased), a police bodyguard deployed for the actor's security and accompanying him at the time of the accident, had warned him not to drive rashly as it could lead to a mishap.

Yet, Mr Khan did not pay heed and drove at a great speed.

The prosecutor submitted that Mr Khan was drunk and his blood sample revealed 60 mg alcohol which was beyond the permissible limit.

In another development, advocate Abha Singh, appearing for activist Santosh Daundkar, had urged the court to permit her to intervene in the matter, saying section 301 of CrPc allowed her to assist the prosecutor.

Though the actor's counsel objected to Mr Daundkar's plea for intervention, saying he had no locus standi in the matter, Public Prosecutor Erande said he had no objection.

Ms Singh alleged that police had favoured Mr Khan by not examining witnesses in the case in the last five years and insisted on the actor's regular appearance.

The court would also give its ruling on Mr Daundkar's petition on June 10.

One person was killed and four others were injured when the Land Cruiser allegedly driven by Mr Khan crushed a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra in the wee hours on September 28, 2002.

Mr.Kamina: This is for you-->🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

But good that you had guts to admit that you were wrong this time. 😉
As for RK challenging Khans or anyone else I will repeat what I said earlier. Every superstar has his own place. Rajesh Khanna couldnt replace Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand or Dilip Kumar. Amitabh Bachchan couldnt replace Rajesh Khanna and the Khans couldnt replace Amitabh Bachchan. Each of them held a unique place in the hearts of moviegoers.
HAHK in the 90s and Gadar in early 2000s made more money than Sholay which was then the record holder. So did HAHK kill Sholay or did Gadar kill HAHK? Each of these films is still cherished even till this date along with their stars(and characters). Success of a film cant be measured in terms of money alone.
Thats why I always disagree with you measuring success of a film by money alone. If you compare money Bodyguard and Ready made more money than HAHK. But HAHK is cherished more even 20 years after its release. With passing time films are making more money due to better release strategies and inflation. But since you love to gloat about BO figures you are now beaten at your own game. 😉Purely going by BO numbers Salman is on the verge of extinction within 2-3 years of him becoming the BO king.😛
Coming RK I would say yes the Khans are challenged at the BO at the moment. RK's film has made more money than most of the recent Khan films. This is a sign that the audience is ready to move on to younger stars and the Khans and their contemporaries either give great films or start doing roles that befit their age.

I was about to post this, you beat me to it.
Everyone is giving their reasonings of why RK movie worked at BO i .e ex's chemistry/promotions...but I think more than anything else, audience wants / ready to move on to younger stars/actors -

The fact that audience is ready to move on has been obvious this year. Films with newbies/newer stars did well-ABCD, KPC, Chasme Baddor, A2 and YJHD. While two biggies have underperformed ie Race2 and Himmatwala. 2014 will be even more tougher for the 40+ stars with most of the recent newbies having 2-3 releases that year.

3 years, max. They better figure out how to transition by that time...or focus on films that will be better for them..aka age-appropriate ones.

Sigh. For childhood loves, I hope they figure it out.
