Two cents on this:
- Dhoom films are not his kind of films and he knows it. Age or physique are not by his side. No wonder he is paying attention to detail and trying his best to fit in.
Tomorrow there'll be everyone ready to chew his head if they do not like him in Dhoom or feel previous guys were better.
- He made a mistake doing those 3 films as producer and SMJ after signing D3. He'd signed the film in 2011 (early) but still it is being delayed.
When he knows he can't do more than one thing at a time then what was the need to take on so many projects?
He also went on to sign PK then since it's a Raju Hirani film and only a fool would let go of a Hirani film.
I'd always wonder how'd he manage PK in his bulky Dhoom 3 look. No wonder he's conscious about both films now.
- I feel he needs to stop taxing his body. It's nice he is dedicated and disciplined enough to mould his physique as his roles demand. But at this age he should take care of his health too. This constant weight gain, weight loss etc. may take a toll on his health. (I say this for all actors. I appreciate their zeal but I hope they keep their age in mind and don't tax their bodies too much).
- It is OBVIOUS that the stupendous success of 3 Idiots and its records are now hanging like an albatross around his neck. He's expected to break records since he's the originator of 100 crore and 200 crore club. He hasn't taken the reception of Talaash well either (look of disappointment was evident on his face in that so called success press conf post Talaash). He got away from judgement by labelling it an offbeat film. But no way he can make up any reason for a commercial film like Dhoom 3.
He seems weighed down by the excess expectations he has. He knows how his contemporaries get bashed and even their hits are called disappointments just because they "failed" to break 3 Idiots record!
There 3 Idiots is still making records as it continues to release in new foreign territories. Its magnitude of success - whether he admits it or not, is a burden on him.
He always seems to get self conscious post a huge success. This is why he either takes breaks or takes to offbeat films so to escape burden of expectations people have from him. Especially after Mangal Pandey he's become even more self conscious about his films, performances and their reception.
I don't think he should be blamed. It's become his nature now. And mostly his attention to detail helps the film except for some films (like The Rising and to some extent Talaash).
He's victim of the game he started himself. Records and numbers game.
Audience is finicky and this guy does only one film. Pressure is a given.
No wonder he talked of taking a break from acting after PK!
Good luck to him and I hope he stops taking on more than one project at a time. Multi-tasking is really not his cup of tea.
Regarding Abhishek and Katrina - well the former better keep his frustration in control! Who is he?! Consider himself lucky he got to work with Aamir! Mr. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has no aukaat to even think against any of the Khans!
And Katrina may be BO queen and probably obvious choice of D3 heroine but she should also not complain because very few actresses get to work with all Khans! Her Bang Bang will never be close to D3!
Agar phal chahiye toh thoda kasht bhi sehen kar lo!
Good one. enjoyed reading your post..
