Mahadev on TV and the Shiva trilogy prove that there is a huge appetite for mythology among Indians. What we need is new technology to give us a little help and update the characters a bit.

But Mahadev shows so many fake stories and God alone knows what they're showing nowadays. I think Shivji himself wouldn't know about these stories. 😆 That show works only cause of Mohit, the grand setup and initially people loved the "chemistry" between two good looking leads. lol. And Shiva triology belongs to fiction genre too na? The whole Suryavanshi vs. Chandravanshi reminds me of Lord Ram vs. Lord Krishna 😆

On topic, I think if the right kind of people make then it can work. South still makes mytho movies and they do a wonderful job of it. Even with Lord Krishna and Lord Ram, there are many untold stories. People don't know the exact reasons behind Lord Ram's actions and then there are people who are completely clueless about the actual relation between Lord Krishna and Gopis. All people think is that Lord Krishna was surrounded by a lot of girls = gopis so aaj ke time people see a guy surrounded with girls and its equated to Lord Krishna and Gopis. 😆
And then why just Gods? We have so many stories to tell of the avtars in form of devotees of Gods like Chaitanaya mahaprabhu or Adi Shankar or characters like Dhruv etc.

I too absolutely love Tenali Ram, Vikram Betal, Akbar Birbal stories. They're so fascinating.

Bollyood will add songs and dance to mythology and thus will ruin it. Besides, we indians are so enamored by gods that only a narrow white-washed view of them can be presented on screen.

Agree with u. I too amazed with the success of Mahadev in TV...So it is proved if the shows r executed properly with proper storylines and drama then audience will hook into it...Only thing is that the makers have to make good research and give us a good quality product...
