The Brits abolished Sati, child marriage etc. But untouchability was abolished only by the Indian constitution after independence.

Caste system by itself can't be called problematic. Its a part of our culture and history. The problem arises only when there is the concept of superiority-inferiority between them which is not sanctioned by the Vedas.

Okay, thanks for the info. But I disagree, just because a tradition is part of a culture does not make it right. Anything that divides people into meaningless groups is problematic in and of itself, in my view. If it wasn't there to begin with, untouchability and other stupid shit wouldn't exist but this is not the place to discuss that so I digress.
