RIP...

My Mom was jst telling me abt it today morning 😭...even my cuzs frm LA are helping out. Odia community in Mumbai n US are sending out funds. Its a shame how PC didn't act soon n waited for the media to print it on the front page 😡 He worked for her, he accompanied her to US so naturally she would hv got the news abt his death but still didn't do anything...its total disgusting 🤢 Maybe she was busy planing out her nxt surgery.

Priyanka Chopra and her office has been working on getting Jiban Patra's body back to India. A spokesperson from her office said, ''This is a very unfortunate and unexpected situation. Our deepest condolences go out to Mr. Patra's family. Our aim throughout was to ensure that Mr. Patra remains were brought back to his family at the very earliest.''

The reason stated by Chopra's office is that an NOC was needed from the family only after which the hospital and police authorities would release Patra's body.

The spokesperson adds,'' Owing to the situation that this occurred in a foreign country, where no family member was present, there was multiple levels of paperwork and processes that had to be followed to ensure that the matter was handled effectively and in a timely manner. Owing to some delays in paperwork from the family's end, the repatriation of the body was delayed.''

Chopra also delayed her return to India to ensure that the everything was in place for Patra's remains to be repatriated to India. The spokesperson added,''We have been in constant touch with the family to keep them updated on the matter. All details and financial requirements related to the repatriation was and is being handled directly by Ms. Chopra and her team in LA. We are making all efforts to ensure his family's needs are taken care of at this unfortunate time.''

The actor is looking at helping the family including take care of education of his children.

Patra has been freelancing with various actors like Priyanka Chopra, Tabu and Aishwarya Rai for some time now.

oh...now I feel bad for bashing her...yes the paperwork could have taken time...So glad to know that she is doing her best to help the family and bring back Patra...May he RIP and Sorry to Priyanka

Obviously there'd be bureaucracy issues. Replace another star in this scenario and there would be suggestions to wait for more info on this before they get crucified but cos its PC she gets lovely embellishments like 'b*tch', real classy!

Anyway the bigger picture- Hope the family are taken care of eventually, must be horrible in this in between situation without any proper closure.

Are we sure this new article is a genuine attempt and not just a face saving strategy by PC's PR?

On second thoughts, who cares I guess. As long as she shells the 15 grand out for whatever motive (selfish or selfless). I just find it appalling that she buys loubs worth well over $ 6000, yet hasn't done anything about this after a week. Plus, what's up with all the happy tweets? When one of your staff member dies, the least you could do is at least pretend to be sad.

Well, its been 10 days. The inquest would have probably taken a couple of days. Paperwork takes time. This happened to my uncle who died when visiting his younger son in MD. The older son just flew over, cremated his dad there and brought back the ashes. Much easier. The documentation needed to bring back a body is just time consuming not to mention bringing the body back in a casket, transporting it to the airport, checking it into the flight - can you imagine this being managed by remote from Mumbai? Not to mention that Hindus need to cremate quickly - so this is really much more sensible, cost effective and timely.
