| Karan Johar's latest flick tells a story about a very unique relationship |
One of the most awaited and most anticipated Bollywood movies of the year is on its way to cinemas across the globe. I am talking about the latest from one of Bollywood's most talented directors, Karan Johar's "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna" ("Never Say Goodbye"). His three earlier emotional and relationship based flicks have all been blockbusters worldwide.
It is no surprise that like Johar's other flicks, "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna" ("Alvida," for short) has a great cast of Bollywood's who's who including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerjee, Abhishek Bachahan, and Preity Zinta. The movie will also feature special appearances by heartthrob Arjun Rampal, and Urmila Matondkar.

Like his previous movies, Johar's "Alvida" also deals with the complexities of human relationships, but this time in a broader and deeper way. It is a story of two couples, of troubled marriages and love that is found in the most unexpected way. The film intends to answer a question: What do you do when you meet the love of your life but are already married to someone else? I guess the storyline is quite interesting. Isn't it?
The story of "Alvida" is focused on the budding romance between Jai (Shah Rukh Khan), who is an accountant at a respectable firm owned by Mohindra Sharma (Amitabh Bachchan), and Sharma's daughter, Shalini (Rani Mukerjee). Both Jai and Shalini are married. Jai is married to Kiran (Preity Zinta), who is a nurse at a mental hospital, and Shalini is married to Anand Bakshi (Abhishek Bachchan), who is a struggling journalist.
Shot extensively in New York and partly in Bombay, the movie lets you witness what happens when the relationship and feelings between Jai and Shalini come to the surface. The result is a collision of lives and emotions, affecting everyone involved and changing their lives forever.
The movie has already created ripples among music lovers and movie fans for its soothing and amazing music composed by trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. With lyrics by Javed Akhtar, the melodies of the songs are sure leave a mark on your heart. After all, it is a Karan Johar movie. Great music is guaranteed, I say.
Produced under the banner of Johar's Dharma Productions, "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna" is slated for release worldwide on Aug. 11.
