After John Abraham, it's Akshay Kumar who is setting up an official website. Those in the know say that Kumar has been toying with the idea ever since he got his hands on a high-tech laptop and visited the portals of his Hollywood counterparts.
However, the actor, who is shooting in London for Priyadarshan's Bhagam Bhaag and Vipul Shah's Namaste London, continues to be hush-hush about it. "I'm in the process of setting it up. It's too early to provide you the details about the look and feel of the website," he says.
Three-fold purpose
The three-fold purpose that the website seeks to serve are facilitating direct communication with his audience across the globe, create a brand name and promote his upcoming films through it.
After reports of Phir Hera Pheri making to The UK Top 10 charts overseas, distributors are convinced that the actor has struck a chord among the overseas audience.
The actor is not only keen on interacting with his fans, but also plans to set up forums where visitors can discuss various relevant issues.
Kumar has hired the services of Movies Talkies, an agency known for setting up websites for films like Rang De Basanti, Bend It Like Beckham and more recently, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
Says director Alnoor Merchant,"Yes, we are putting together Akshay Kumar's official website. But we are still figuring out the features for the site."
