Well .. before KPC's release ... UTV , YRF etc's PR and spokespersons did the work.. and after KPC's release .. its the critics who have praised him to the skies ... calling him brilliant , star in making... yada yada yada ...

So Sushant's PR has had it quite easy actually...

As far as the remaining two from the KPC trio are concerned .. well.. like others have said .. Raj was fab throughout in KPC... but this is bollywood .. and sadly ..he doesnt fit into the conventional bollywood hero mould ...

So he wont have fangirls swooning over him... but .. hey ...he can win awards .. I mean ...Irfan Khan won it this year.. so why not him?

As for Amit ... he did have his PR do a bit of work .. with articles about girls crazy about him .. and sending bouquets of flowers or something like that ...

But... if we really are looking at a comparison here .. as to who "benefited the least" from KPC .. then.. atleast .. going by the critics reviews and audience/twitter reaction .. he seems to have been less appreciated compared to Raj and Sushant ...

I mean... most of the reviews singled out Sushant for praise .. calling him a star .. some reviews singled out Raj calling him a brilliant actor .. but Amit didnt get any special mention as such.. the poor guy was called a weak link out of the three in some reviews..

I personally didnt find a single weak link in the movie as far as acting was concerned .. and that was the best thing about KPC for me...

Anyways getting back to the topic .. I really like Kunal Kapoor ( from Na bole tum..) .. Hope he gets into bwood ...

And .. havent really his show on tv much .. but .. what about Mishal Raheja .. ? From whatever little I have seen him on TV ... he is a really good actor with a fab screen presence .. Wasnt he supposed to do a film? I remember seeing some pics of him from on location of shoot..

Since I'm in the somewhat unique position in this thread of being both a Sushant and Mishal fangirl, I'll elaborate...

Yes, Mishal is doing a movie...called Budget Trip...it seems like an indie/low budget flick...which also seems to have some male bonding as a backdrop😆...Mishal is a FABULOUS actor...gave some powerhouse performances especially as Dutta in Laagi Tujhse Lagan and frankly speaking, he's a MUCH better actor than Sushant.

But as I discussed with Himani in another thread, great acting skills are not the only thing that can get you through...Mishal is TERRIBLE, like SERIOUSLY terrible at PR...lol...as his fans, we lament about that even as we admire his no-nonsense personality otherwise...but he stays too under the radar to really accomplish anything...I think he was waiting for some movie to work out with Anurag Basu at some point too cuz he'd promised him a movie after Love Story but I guess AB has moved on to bigger fish since Barfi now so I doubt he'll get back to MR.

This thread has some seriously senseless bashing towards Sushant but I guess there is no point getting into that since this is the way of the Bolly forum🥱

I think Sushant has been both smart and lucky about his debut...I really doubt if there is a PR machinery at work...umm if he signs movies, they WILL be talked about...there is an article out about any Tom Dick and Harry signing a movie these days then why not Sushant? And fact remains it's been a LONG time since a guy came along who bagged SO many big banner movies right off the bat...so THERE...maybe ppl can't digest that it's really happening so they want to find conspiracy theories.

Newspapers have to fill up space so they'll report about any new thing coming up...they raise ppl to heights and dash them overnight as well...that's how the media works...Sushant's work will ultimately speak for itself if it has to...but the guy IS talented...unlike certain other TV actors who consider themselves the next big thing and are nowhere today...

I'd also LOVE to see Kunal Karan Kapoor carve a niche for himself cuz he's very talented but I also feel he's not as mainstream as Sushant can manage to be...that is what sets Sushant apart from actors like Mishal and Kunal...he has it in him to make it in more commercial mainstream cinema which looks for STAR screen presence...

Exactlyy! That's what I had said in some other Sushant thread too. It's been a LONG time since a newcomer got such offers and debuted with a buzz around him, despite NOT being a starkid or connected to Bollywood in some way. So people can't comprehend how this is happening all of a sudden...there MUST be something more than meets the eye...especially because I guess he's not the bestest looker around, nor the most talented guy from TV. On top of that, Sushant is CLEAN on the rumors front. No rumors of wealthy dad financing his film (a la Ranveer Singh) or casting couch (a la Siddharth Malhotra). Plus the folks he's associated with don't have a reputation for being sleazebags either. This is unheard of in big bad Bollywood. 😆 So let's try to find something, because this is just not possible. I'm not too surprised with this..it was only a matter of time before people started drawing their own conspiracy theories.

Maybe just maybe, he was in the right place at the right time. He was smart about his debut, UTV is a big PH, Abhishek Kapoor is a talented director and knows lots of people in the industry too. Ekta is always there too...+ talent + hard work + intelligence + LUCK.

Media became interested in Sushant when he signed PK...YRF's next happened around then too, suddenly he was hot property. People became curious about this new guy who's signed big films and it's only natural that media WILL focus more on him for KPC. I honestly don't even think his PR has to try hard here 😆 ...and anyways Sushant is new, he will learn how to handle his PR better as time goes on too.

That's what I meant when I was talking about Kavi and all too. They're not set out for mainstream Bollywood just like Kunal, Mishal, or Rajeev...whereas Sushant DOES fit the commercial profile. Hence he's getting better offers. I'd love to see the others carve a niche for themselves too someday. They're all very very talented :D

Why do people think Salman is #1 today and NOT Irrfan Khan? Salman has a wider appeal. Simple.

I think Sushant has a refreshing mix of qualities that make him suitable for mainstream bollywood...He comes across as a THINKING actor to me...along with the fact that he does have screen presence and charm...

I think the initial hype when Sushant first bagged KPC was very low-key and about what you'd expect when a TV actor bags a movie...the buzz has grown GRADUALLY as the buzz for KPC grew...which in itself was UTV at work...then yes, like Sushant himself has said, he AUDITIONED for every role he bagged...so his TALENT got him the job each time, not some hype...the hype FOLLOWED...I think he makes the media CURIOUS cuz they can't really figure him out fully either...lol

He has a confidence about him even as he's on the cusp of taking off with his career...a surety, a calmness that shows his intelligence and not over-confidence...and I think that is getting noticed both by filmmakers, critics as well as the media...

And give the guy time...let his next movie release before you collectively pounce on pulling him down...for now, his work in KPC DOES speak for itself in my opinion...I'm an honest fan...I like Sushant but thought he was about a decent actor...but he's shown POTENTIAL and GROWTH in KPC from his previous work...and I think this guy has it in him to grow from strength to strength...the ability to connect with the masses.

And honestly I don't think Sushant is much for PR...he must have done like ONE photoshoot since he bagged KPC, that's it😆...and how many magazine covers do you see him on? A few magazine articles come out and ppl seem to think Sushant has some PR juggernaut working for him?😆...If the media is getting excited, it's cuz of his work being noticed in KPC...

I think Kavi Shastri's big film is the one with Barun the Great (seems to be a two-hero project). And I believe he had a small role in Mujhse Fraaanship Karoge.

I think everyone is curious 😆 It's been a while since an underdog is getting such offers.

I thought Sushant had improved from before in the promos of KPC only :) I haven't had a chance to see the film yet, but trying to convince family to go today.

Mhmm, he has the potential to improve even more. He has a sound head on his shoulders and I hope he can keep it that way. He's no Sobti who can't speak nor walk properly...or Gurmeet...or KSG...hopeless guys. Baaki, things get harder after the debut. Like they say...debut film chooses you, and you choose everything else.

PR in the form of the articles. 😆 BUT, I don't think he's hogging all the glory either or his PR is cutting out the others...Media is just more curious about Sushant so focusing more on him than the others. It's not Sushant's fault. Anyways, his "PR" is really nothing compared to Kareena's, Aish's PR...or even Priyanka's PR for that matter. ...or the pass-the-parcel game Ranbir-Deepika-Ranveer-Anushka-Arjun-Katrina-Parineeti seem to playing. 🥱

Problem kya hain if he has "PR machinery" at work? That is also necessary to make it in today's world. Talent alone isn't enough (unless you don't want to be a superstar and are happy with smaller roles/niche cinema). Those skills should be seen as a positive factor not a negative one. SRK wouldn't be where he is today if he wasn't such a pro at networking, PR, sucking up to the right people, etc. Maybe SSR has those skills. Maybe he used them to make the right sort of 'friends' who are backing him now.

He had a "blink-and-you-miss" appearance in MFK, LAK.

A while back he had tweeted about being back in YRF offices, maybe they've offered him another role. Hopefully it's bigger than the MFK appearance. He's into stand-up comedy with Vir Das too.

OMG I would love seeing Mishal Raheja in movies...I found him soo hot and a great actor

He can do romantic roles and intense roles (dutta bhau is still one of my fav characters on Indian tv ) 😃
