These guys from TV, they do not really groom themselves. grooming does not just mean shedding 10 Kg in 2 months and taking shirt off. or for the ladies stop eating and look skeletan and put on god awful tacky clothes.

the way they speak, their diction , their real life attitude are very downmarket to be honest. And they refuse to learn.
the way they bitch about others when they themselves have terrible fashion choices, their close minded ness is a big turn off.

Shows like big boss and welcome and even dance reality shows, tv segments like SBS and SBB segments are real eye openers.

The people whom I find classy on tv will act in hatke shows and not be popular and will choose to be like that instead of joining the drag.

Do you think grooming matters? Otherwise people like Abhishek, Saif and Soha would have ruled BW. TBH SRK wasnt as well groomed when he started off. Same goes for Salman and other stars. They learnt on the job. I think its a matter of what opputunities they get and how they are presented onscreen. Not everyone is fortunate to get a break with UTV or YRF or Dharma whose bosses are great in in the marketing game.
Actually I rarely watch the behind the scenes shows like SBS so dont have clue what is shown. But yes classy and hatke guys from TV whom I generally like dont get into the rat race. They are not really aggressive in promoting themselves and do work they like to do instead of calculating at every step and promoting themselves desperately or asking people for work. Mostly such people turn out to be losers as these days mainly marketing and hype works rather than good work.

I think grooming matters for the initial impression. it always mattered as a initial picture. I read read jeetendra's interview, it mattered even in the 70s
by grooming I did not mean intellectual air( real or fake), or dressing up in designer garbs ala sonam. these tv stars can also afford small and medium and occassionally even big designers.
I meant a overall presentation. maybe I should have used charishma.

SRK had charm, what r u saying shreya. He was never that downmarket. The way he spoke even in the initial days( I am not much of a fan but my mother said he spoke really differently than the ones around) was way better than the way these guys speak

Offcourse LUCK is the biggest deciding factor. and not everyone will geta VD or a KPC, but I think there is an initial grooming which sets people aside.

look at PD. the way she dressed and acted during tv days, during rock on , during OUAT and now. Yes she learnt on the job and gradually changed but also she groomed herself. she spoke differently.

i cannot pinpoint which word I want to use here exactly. but look at the new lot. SID M and aaliya, or for that matter aditi rao hyaderi, huma. the way they carried themselves right from the beginning is so much different.

@ Bold: word. I mean I would love to see a kavi shashtri, a siddhant karnik on screen. they have the charisma or the talent or both. but you see SSRs and AKs onscreen only.

on SSR: he is a decent actor and a very good dancer. but someone he does not impress me. Its like I don't really miss him when he is gone from screen. And he speaks in a weird way. But I am glad he made it. he used to be bashed a lot during that prem-heer show on tv by that tere liye guy's fans and even that guy played politics with him. He can happily say IYFB now.

You are right about charisma...SRK always had that.
I think the advantage Arjun, Varun, Alia, Huma etc had is they were promoted by some big film-maker. So for the sake of their own reputation these guys groomed them properly. But unfortunately that resulted them all sounding the same. As if they have all come off the same factory. In this interview of Kajol she speaks about the girls...but it applies to the 3 film deal wala guys too.

ON TODAY'S FEMALE ACTORS

They are all made to talk and dress alike, with size zero figures and (have) a particular kind of behaviour

What are your views on today's female actors?

Frankly there are too many of them and I don't remember half of them. Every movie launches a new face. They are all made to talk and dress alike, with size zero figures and (have) a particular kind of behaviour so as to blend with the rest.

Maybe it's safer to blend in today. But it takes about 15 to 20 films to get into an identity and develop a personality onscreen. And I feel these girls are not given time to develop themselves as strong individuals. They are thrown up, touted as the next big thing and before they know what's happening to them, they are pulled down and someone else is pushed up. This sudden rise and fall is frightening for the growth of a newcomer.

Can you explain?

Let me ask you this: in the last five years, has anyone survived this onslaught? You have to be willing to take risks to be different, to be unusual and fantastic.

The sad part is that these girls don't seem to want individuality anymore. That's why I feel there are no stars anymore today, because filmmakers don't let them become stars. They are killing every aspect of their creativity and individuality.

hey bhaggu !!!!!

wish I learnt the fudging art

EDIT:

Shreya: not just female and males of bw.
have you seen the tv guys, so redundant. each can replace other.
and to them acting means get the physique, styling and dresses correct
Even this time around in India, bong movie and tv guys also r getting downmarket and weirdo.

Also I agree with you. mogs the actresses who made it big never had super successful tv career to make an impression, so it was easier for them.
but yami is really beautiful. I was awestruck when i saw her first epi in raajkumar aaryan( her debut show, she played a warrior princess). I felt the same way when I had seen kat in her first scene in sarkar.

pooja bose was first ekta's radha.

BTW totally dislike how flop tv actresses an actors go on and become superstar in bong films. Indraneil, barkha, dev (🤢🤢), pooja , payal.

I wish konineeka does some acting. she was good one and she flopped trying her luck in mumbai.

@ Bambogli: Yikes... 27?? Sid Malhotra should change his age immediately to below 25. No way are these two of the same age.

Also: I used to like Rannvijay but I guess he was too cocky by half to have a long sustaining film career
