Desi soaps randomly introduce ghosts, reincarnation, black magic, shape-shifting snakes, characters getting supernatural powers, underworld dons, etc. The serial Aa Gale Lag Jaa on Zee in the early 2000s had an alien. People turning from saint-like good guys to rapists in an instant (and the rape happens with religious background music).

Marital rape is often forgiven on soaps. Not sure about the Manning type situation though but yeah, villains becoming good guys and good guys randomly becoming pure evil happen a lot. 😆

I remember a kekta show on sony which started as a normal love story, then turned into a horror show, then showed the lead as schizophrenic and then ultimately turned into a comedy

In a show called Kkoi Dil Mein Hain by Kekta Mai:- this guy rapes this girl, she marries him because she wants a sort of revenge and end up falling in love with her but then the guy dies and she ends up marrying her best friend's husband or something. 🤢

I guess you are talking about showing Ganesha as Supreme. This actually is not without basis. There is a small sect which really does worship Ganesha as the Supreme Deity. Some corresponding texts exist as well.

The notion of a god or goddess' show portraying that deity above originates in the same notion in the various religious texts in the subcontinent. A Saivite text portrays Shiva as supreme for example (and Vishnu is frequently subjugated and humiliated in those texts). The opposite is true of a Vaishnavite text. And so on and so forth (I am oversimplifying to make a point). The serial makers follow this tradition on screen.
