Over the last few years, we have seen the resurgence of massy action masala entertainers. GHAJINI, WANTED, DABANGG, SINGHAM, ROWDY RATHORE, etc are some of the films apart of this group. This Friday, there is a film releasing that has a similar nature: ZILA GHAZIABAD.
ZILA GHAZIABAD's trailer released about a month ago, but it got sidelined. It wasn't able to create much buzz, and I feel that the reason for that was because of the trailer of another similar type of film (SHOOTOUT AT WADALA) was released around that time. SHOOTOUT AT WADALA's trailer got all of the accolades, hype, and buzz, whereas ZILA GHAZIABAD's trailer got pushed to the background.
There are other factors too though. One fact is that ZILA GHAZIABAD is a delayed film, and as we have seen many times in the past with films such as SHAADI KAR KE PHAS GAYA YAAR, YEH LAMHE JUDAAI KE, RUSH, DEEWANA MAIN DEEWANA, etc, even though the film may featured well-known names, it does not help if the film is delayed. Delayed films don't ever get much hype/buzz.
I would also like to point out another thing: I have mentioned how ZILA GHAZIABAD is another massy action film. But, the Indian public enjoys it when there is a big star like Salman Khan or Akshay Kumar doing the entertainment in these kind of films. In this film, there is Sanjay Dutt, but he doesn't have anywhere near as much crowd pull as he used to in the past. His films only tend to work when there is another A-lister with him such as Hritikh (AGNEEPATH) or Ajay (SON OF SARDAAR). Arshad Warsi isn't much of a crowd puller himself. As for Viveik Oberoi, let's not even talk about it!
Sure, there are chances that the masses may like the film. But, with the low buzz, the delayed release, and an estimated budget of around 60 crores, it looks like it's gonna be a tough journey for the film at the box office!
My Box Office Predictions for ZILA GHAZIABAD:
Opening Day: 3 crores
Opening Weekend: 10 crores
Lifetime Collections: 20 crores
Overall Box Office Verdict: Flop
