Kai Po Che Decent Opening Zilla Ghaziabad Dull Opening

Koi Po Che had a decent opening of around 40-45% while Zilla Ghaziabad was dull across the board with around 20% Kai Po Che was helped by good collections in the premium multiplex areas of Mumbai, Pune and Delhi NCR though some other parts of the country like UP and Punjab were low. The film had no face value but the promotion created awareness especially in the big cities where collections are much better.

Zilla Ghaziabad was dull in the morning and stands no chance at the box office as a film like Kai Po Che can improve as the day goes along but Zilla Ghaziabad being an action film has limited upside.

Both films have Hollywood release A Good Day To Die Hard for competition which also did not open well apart from a few centres in East Punjab where there is the novelty of the film being dubbed in Punjabi for the first time.

Thanks for all the reviews...have seen most of the professional ones on other threads...but I was more interested in the reviews from actual forum members who went and saw the movie.

Being a fan...I had blind faith in Sushant giving his best...and I'm so glad that others are saying so too.

Looking forward to seeing this movie ASAP. 😛

The movie was superb .I loved it .

The cinematography of this film is going to win many many awards .The whole rustic feel of the film , the way he took even the night shot .. I have never seen this kind of cinematography in any Indian film . I honestly don't have enough words to say in praise of the cinematographer ..

Background music was brilliant specially toweards the end ..

Direction was just superb . Abhishek Kapoor has made this film with his heart .There are no compromises at all..No naachgaana or silly comedy were forced in the film .Very compelling and moving direction .I don't think we will see anything like this in 2013.

The film is very subtle but the end message it gives is very very power packed ..I am glad both my sons went with me to see this movie .This is the kind of film every one shoulod see.

Performances were superb .Amrita Puri looked lovely and she was very natural .Amit Sadh did a great job .He has a sweet smile and in the second half of the film he emoted mostly with his eyes. The last scene he has with Vidya brought tears in my eyes ...

RajKumar is a fine actor .He did the role of Govind really well .Govind is a very controlled and shows restraint in most of the situations .He looks like someone who only has numbers going on in his mind all the time ...

Ali was such a lovely sweet boy .I loved the relationship between Ali and Ishaan ..

And now the heart of this movie ...Ishan Bhatt ..

Ishaan was my most favourite character of this film because of his pure and beautiful heart . He would fight with everyone because of his short temper but then like a child would apologise .I just loved Ishan , what a beautiful character .

Sushant played Ishaan so perfectly that I honestly don't know what to say, totally loss for words now really don't know which scene I can call his best ..I think most of his scenes with Ali had that extra warmth in them .

Ishan was Ali's guardian angel in true sense .

I don't want to say more because I don't want to spoil the fun by giving in the story details ..You guys just have to go and watch this film . It really is worth watching ...

The only bad thing I can think of right now is how is Sushant going to meet the bench mark that he has set for himself by playing Ishaan this well...

Over the years we have seen many films based on friendship . The last , Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was about three friends, Arjun, Imraan and Kabir, who have been inseparable since their childhood. They set off to Spain on a bachelor trip and face their fears.

Change the urban ,rich background to rural ,middle class and we have Kai Po Che ,a story of three friends where one is an Ex district player who was a victim of politics in the cricketing space, the other one is the nephew of a hindu politician who funds their business and third one is cautious 'baniya' who wants to make it big in life and is the mastermind behind starting a sports shop and also a sports academy .

The film is based between 2000 and 2002, real life incidents like the devastating earthquake and the horrendous post-Godhra riots are a part of the film . But the director has steered clear of focusing too much on the controversial parts and the main focus is on how the bonds of friendship are tested in difficult times .

Rajkumar Yadav ,earlier seen in small roles in Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2 , Talaash etc leaves a lasting impact in the character of Govind who is practical yet readily gives in to his friends' wishes .

Sushant Singh as Ishaan who is obsessed with grooming a young Muslim kid with immense batting potential has given an award winning performance . He has wonderful screen presence and in the shirtless scenes he easily gives competition to Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan !

Amit Sadh has given some forgettable performances in the past but he is perfect as Omi, a guy who has no great ambitions in life and is happy to just be with his friends .

Kai Po Che is a Gujarati phrase that means "I have cut the kite" which refers to a kite competition where one of the competitors uses his kite to cut off another competitors kite and yells "Kai Po Che!"

In the film they have a one minute scene where all friends are flying kites but I still wonder why they chose it as the film's title . In Chetan Bhagat's novel 'The 3 mistakes of my life ' Govind is the narrator and the central character of the novel, and the story revolves around the three biggest mistakes of his life . As the film is a complete copy of the novel the original title would have suited it better.

In a line if you are a cricket fan and haven't read ' The 3 Mistakes of my life ' you will love the film ,others can watch it for some heart touching emotions exchanged between the three friends .

Must watch for excellent performances by the lead actors .

Kai Po Che! mints Rs4.5 crore on opening day

Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che!opened to a good response, garnering Rs4.5 crore on its opening day at the Indian box office. Overseas too, the movie has done well so far.

The big screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life, the movie, featuring Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Raj Kumar Yadav, released Friday in 1,000 screens across the country.

Production banner UTV Motion Pictures is upbeat about the movie, made at a budget of Rs12 crore.

"It's a fantastic start for Kai Po Che! and it will only keep on growing over the weekend. We are looking at a big weekend. Also, the film will also have a sound week one and will have a long run at the theatre because of the appreciation that it is getting to sustain this super box office run," Gaurav Verma, director - India theatrical distribution, Studios, Disney UTV, said in a statement.

In the overseas market, the film was released in a total of 250 screens, including 109 in US, 54 in Britain, 35 in Gulf and 12 in Australia.

Kai Po Che! released in Gulf Thursday, and it has managed to collect $170,000 in the region within two days.

The business from the movie is only poised to grow over the weekend, said Amrita Pandey, Executive Director - Syndication, International Distribution and Disney Media Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV.

"The weekend is key for us - and there is incredible positive word of mouth in all overseas markets. We are thrilled at the response, and feel that this should carry over to the box office."
