The fact that the film MADE that much money means audiences werent exactly fooled.
To a certain extent, this crap does well.
It didnt even fall as much. Audiences knew from the trailer itself what htey were expecting. So why point fingers at Saif?

He's just being honest about his own films.
This is what he said about Agent Vinod -

But ask him about the sequel of Agent Vinod and he says that though spy thrillers have great potential, he won't be seen reprising that role anytime soon. "AV sequel will not happen. I'm heartbroken by the first one. I think it had the wrong mixes of style," he says upfront.

How did you cope with Agent Vinod's failure?

Apart from personal disappointment, it is a tremendous process since you put your heart and soul into it. Life is a constant process of doing different things. As long as you know how to make films, it does not really matter after a point. Some will work and some won't. I still believe that Agent Vinod contained a good idea for a movie. I just think we didn't make the right movie. I might make it again. We didn't get it right.
Masala films are doing well.

^^^And your point is? From what I see he wants BO success like any other star and IMO there is nothing wrong with it. But then other stars dont trash their own films which Saif does. Its trashing the same audience who have made you a star. The other stars dont atleast do that. But I guess this is expected behavior from the Nawab Saif Ali Khan who was born in the wrong country.

They were pretty much saying the same thing in the interviews just before or around the time the movie was released, joking about the "substance" in the film and all. 😆

I think Saif is doing all this a front to hide his homosexuality 😉

Yes, he gets away with a lot...Pehle promote karo...then insult your own work and audience who saw it...and Say kaise ullu banaya inko...

Reminds me of Sapna Bhavnani's dialouge in BB6: Ullu banaya...bada maaza aaya!
The same seems to be Saif's attitude. This is the problem with most star kids who think they are doing a favor on the jahil audience by appearing onscreen.

Saif is a straight up honest guy.
He doesnt sugar coat and make things out to be something they're not. He always promoted Race 2 as a COOL film that you have to just go in and enjoy.
Read his statement and you'll see he's giving a BALANCED POV.
He's happy about the success, says the first half was gripping, but the second half was far fetched.
And promising that for the next part, they'll work harder on making it more real to match up with the style.

What is wrong with that? At least he's not sitting there LYING about his film being an epic masterpiece.

Saif was born in the wrong country, really?
So being critical of your work, your films, your profession, YOURSELF, is not "Indian"?
What is being Indian?
Mera bharat mahaan will turn a blind eye to everything?
Hmm...nice.

EXACTLY!
None of the stars ever lied or portrayed Race 2 as being substantial.
Saif has kept the same stance.
I dont see how he's being hypocritical now.

Should they bring Bipasha back for the next one? After all, we never saw her body. Or what about Tanya? Maybe they should introduce her.

I want a female villain next time. That would be cool.

Now who claims their film is an epic masterpiece? Not the stars who do trashy masala stuff. They promise entertainment and deliver that. Saif promises entertainment before his movie releases and then insults his audience for coming to the theaters to get entertained.
And being Indian is having first having self-respect that includes respecting yourself, respecting your work and respecting your people. Too much to expect from the Nawab!
