Akshay and Emraan to come together

MUMBAI, Feb. 13 -- It's a known fact that Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar are set to team up for the first time in a co-production. But now, we have learned that if all goes well, Emraan Hashmi will join the duo in the two-hero action caper, slated to begin sometime in March next year.
"Karan is already in discussions with Emraan about it. The complete script and other details have been sent across to him. And we have reasons to believe that Emraan will take the film up especially since Karan is confident that it will work out," says a trade source. Of late, Emraan and Karan have been teaming up on multiple projects starting with KJo's production Ungli (directed by Rensil D'Silva who last made Kurbaan; 2009). The actor is also slated to star opposite Kareena Kapoor in Karan's yet-untitled co-production with Ekta Kapoor.

The source says that apparently, Karan didn't even think twice before approaching Emraan. "Karan is keen that he should be part of the two-hero project. Although the actor hasn't signed on the dotted line yet, things should be finalised in about a week's time," adds the source.
Akshay is already confirmed to star in the film helmed by Punit Malhotra, who also directed I Hate Luv Storys (2010). Even though Akshay stars in the film, there won't be any ego tussles. "The film has strong roles for both male leads. There won't be issues about who is the first or second lead," adds the source.


Not much is known about the film's storyline, but Karan feels the co-production between his Dharma Productions and Akshay's production banner, Hari Om Entertainment will be "very solid and hard-hitting" with a strong underlying social message. Before this film, Punit will direct Imran Khan and Kareena in a love story titled Gori Tere Pyar Mein, which goes on the floors in March. Despite repeated attempts, Karan, Akshay and Emraan remained unavailable for comments.
