Revealed: Why Shahrukh Khan is silent on Vishwaroopam row

Bangalore, Feb 8: When the entire nation was busy observing the controversies on Kamal Haasan's movie Vishwaroopam, superstar Shahrukh Khan surprisingly had maintained a distance with it. Now, when the movie is released in Tamil Nadu burying all hullabaloos, the Bollywood actor finally revealed why he had chosen to stay silent on the burning issue.
Speaking with a TV news channel, the star stated, "I'm an actor. You speak to me about my films. You want to speak about serious issues, you get some serious people - not actor and actresses." [What is Vishwaroopam controversy]
It seems that the actor is upset after courting unwanted criticism over his article in a magazine where he had expressed what it is like to be a Muslim in post 9/11 world.
While he was asked about Vishwaroopam and all-girl band in Kashmir, he was quoted as saying, "To be honest, I have stopped commenting on anything religious or political from now on. But generally if you ask me, I do stand for freedom of expression."
Shahrukh faced the heat when his article had become an instrument to trigger political war between Indian and Pakistan. Indian leaders were enraged when Hafiz Saeed and Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik invited Shahrukh to Pakistan and asked Indian government to provide security to the star respectively.
Clarifying his stand on the issue, Shahrukh later issued a press note where he stated, "I would like to tell all those who are offering me unsolicited advice that we in India are extremely safe and happy. We have an amazing democratic, free and secular way of life. In the environs that we live here in my country India, we have no safety issues regarding life or material."
