Yesterday marked the release of UTV Spot Boy'sABCD – AnyBody Can Dance and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures' Special 26. Both films wrapped day one with unconventional numbers. Where Special 26 garnered around Rs 6 crore all-India NBOC, ABCD swept up around Rs 5 crore NBOC, domestically.
Both films are at par with each other despite the fact that Special 26 has been allotted more screens thanABCD. Distributors are looking forward to a marvelous weekend and it is anticipated that both releases will deliver outstanding numbers.
In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says Special 26 and ABCD garnered Rs 6 crore and Rs 5 crore, respectively, domestically. In Mumbai, Special 26 collected Rs 2 crore and ABCD Rs 1.75 crore. "We have high hopes from the weekend. Content-wise, the films are superb. Early estimates for the weekend suggest that Special 26 will earn Rs 25 crore all-India, Rs 8 crore in Mumbai while ABCD will collect Rs 20 crore all-India and Rs 7 crore Mumbai."
In Delhi-UP, Brijesh Tandon of H K Tandon and Company adds, "ABCD earned Rs 69 lakh and Special 26 Rs 1.3 crore in the Delhi UP circuit. Special 26 has double the number of shows at multiplexes compared to ABCD; both films will work better in metro cities; and both releases are expected to have a brilliant weekend. We expect Rs 4 crore for Special 26 and Rs 2.5 crore for ABCD."
In East Punjab, Jaspal Dhingra of Nanaksar Enterprises Combines remarks, "Special 26 opened at 75 screens while ABCD was assigned 45-50 screens. Despite this, both the films are doing well.Special 26 and ABCD earned Rs 56 lakh and Rs 24 lakh respectively. The weekend will be extravagant for both releases."
In West Bengal, Debashish Dey of Aum Moviez adds, "ABCD enjoyed a slightly better first day thanSpecial 26 in WB. Special 26 took away Rs 27 lakh and ABCD Rs 33 lakh yesterday. The weekend is expected to be better than day one as word-of-mouth publicity of both films is very good. The weekend projections are Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 1.1 crore for ABCD and Special 26, respectively."
In Mysore, B H Basha of Bahar Enterprises concludes, "ABCD opened at 53 screens and Special 26 at 30.ABCD garnered around Rs 34 lakh and Special 26 collected Rs 25 lakh here yesterday. The weekend will be better than opening day and both releases will wrap the weekend on a good note."
