Well Anil Kapoor was the only one who came close to Amitabh's throne towards end of 80s. I admire the man for his tenacity. All odds were stacked against him - he wasn't a yesteryear's megastar's kid, not conventionally handsome, no solid dancing skills, impressive physique. Yet he made it! He made popular onscreen pairs with some of the best heroines, proved his versatility in all films.
People may make fun of his international projects but at least he has actually done something! Instead of other stars who only kept hyping their so called global stardom and prestigious films they refused!
His dedication is awesome. Excited for work even at this age, gives his best to every role (even in a crappy film), so strict about managing his time and fitness. Even after international success he has not become a snob. He's equally ready to dance to a Ram Lakhan song on TV when asked to do so.
A film magazine once mentioned that he's such a workaholic and so fitness conscious that even if he's been shooting or travelling all day, he would still do his workout even past midnight (when he returns home). He's strict about every bite he eats. Sonam Kapoor still laments how strict he is about his own diet and even her diet.
I also like how he's given freedom to his daughters and is not a restrictive or typical conservative father. Sonam wanted to act, Rhea wanted to get into production - he's supported all their attempts unlike other MCP dads in Bollywood who marry off their daughters as soon as they turn 18 and don't let them do anything. Anil has sons also, but he equally talks about his daughters in his interviews. Cool dad!
I wish his daughter had at least half the talent as him.
I admire Anil's ability to adapt. He didn't get his due from media. So what if he's speaking about his achievements now? At least he's not perennially resentful and ridden with persecution complex the way Deols are (esp. Sunny always complains how he and his dad never got their due, how Bobby got unfair deal).
Anil's a survivor and achiever. He deserves respect!
