Salman Khan helpless: Oscar-nominated movie spoils his project
He needs to spruce up the character of the Royal Bengal Tiger in his next film 'Sher Khan'
The Sohail Khan directed film 'Sher Khan' is a jungle adventure film where the Royal Bengal tiger essays an important character. To create a Jungle like milieu and a character of a tiger Sohail needs visual effects in generous doses. Sohail was working on this when Life Of Pi released. The film's main attraction was the Royal Bengal Tiger Richard Parker who wasn't for real, but looked better than a real tiger. This tiger was created completely with visual effects in a studio. Sohail realised that he needed a feline like that.
And when Sohail made his own enquiries he realised that the big cat itself cost Rs 40crore [Dh26.8m]. And that itself is the budget of a film which you can make with Salman Khan.
The costs of creating the tiger with visual effects resulted in Sohail Khan putting his film on hold because if Sohail spends Rs40 crore on the tiger itself, the budget of the film could go haywire.
This was very similar to the delaying of the film Krrish 3 after Rakesh and Hrithik Roshan saw Avatar and realised what a film it was and the impact it made. Hence they pushed the film behind to work on the special effects.
