Worst trends started by biggies in Bollywood?

All big actors, filmmakers (okay include artistes from other departments like music also!) have contributed to Bollywood in different ways, or set off some trend. What are the worst or most disappointing trends set by a Bollywood big-wig according to you? Trends which didn't do any good to Bollywood or made it worse for audience or future generations? Trends which might've worked for that one star but was emulated by others which only made it worse?

Here's some of my choices for worst trends brought by biggies:

SALMAN KHAN - Introducing models and beauty pageant winners to movies, who can't act to save their lives, don't even know language and somehow become popular just due to "looks"! Worse is he even brought look-alikes of existing actresses in form of Sneha Ullal and Zarine Khan.

AAMIR KHAN & HRITHIK ROSHAN - Doing only 1 movie in 3 years! Their 1 film per year rule was also tough for audience to bear. But even taking 3- 4 year gaps was too much! Audience gets deprived of seeing talented actors onscreen! We have to wait so much! Aamir started it, Hrithik followed! Good stuff is so rare? Audience always left pining for more!

SRK - Actors' over-exposure. Actors started coming in different spheres from 70s only. But this man took it to another level altogether. It's just helluva lot of an actor in any sphere! At sports tournaments, sports awards, business events, tourism events, private parties, too many appearances on too many TV channels, concerts, ads blah blah to an extent which is sometimes irritating for audience. The aura of a star is lost. It becomes tedious seeing an actor in every arena. While it helps stars get exposure and mint money, it's grating on ears and eyes of public after a point of time.

SHABANA AZMI (and Javed Akhtar) : Trend of the "cause celebrity".

She's the one who started this trend of movie stars posing as "public intellectuals" and wearing their so called social concern on sleeve. To put it bluntly, I believe she started trend of using serious social issues for publicity and image-building. Write a column (no matter how ill-informed it is!) on an issue, attend a protest or appear on TV to speak on an issue or nod to experts speaking on an issue, take a bit of panga with politicians over an isssue and tie in 2 of your issue-based films to the whole activism/image-building exercise!

All this is now done zealously by many other celebs who want an intelligent or gutsy image.

The same people drink koffee with celebs, same get themselves photographed with victims of a tragedy or poor people to show off "social side".

This woman started it!

SAROJ KHAN and MADHURI DIXIT: Trend of main heroine doing suggestive/vulgar dances and songs.

Earlier, only vamp or item girl (called cabaret dancer back then) would do songs which had any suggestive tones to it. The heroine never did vulgar songs or suggestive dance moves. This duo changed it all with MD heaving her bosom into the camera in songs like Dhak Dhak and Choli ke peeche kya hai and doing all those suggestive dance moves given to her by Master ji Saroj Khan! It was since then expected of heroines also to drop the pallu and perform to songs with suggestive lyrics, allow camera to make them total object of male gaze!

Don't complain of Sheila or Chikni Chameli now. The roots lie somewhere else, in 25 year old movies!

Worst trend Salman Khan did was to help some ingrates like Katrina and yes he also introduced some who need to learn acting basically goris who cant act nor speak properly..but worst was to help Katrina had she made it on her own without being linked to him I would respect where she is today..but because she was linked to him and got to where she is and cant act just shake i don't respect her attributes to bolly.and more sickening is the unwarranted praise some show!,..She just is lucky ...

Regarding others I'm glad they not linked to being is girl like Zarine so in case she makes it big than good and secondly she isn't a gori...but yes worst trend is hyping those without talent and undermining others..which is a sad trend and made acting a joke..just have women shamelessly shake and talented ones side lined all in the name ...Money!! And audiences who wanna she women jiggle!,

But he has helped singers and composers like himesh which is good

Another worst trend is actors wanting to work with actresses who get hype whether they can act ir not and not work with those who reach a certain age or married , etc who are talented...

Cabaret songs were there since black n white movies. Helen, Cuckoo, Bindu were masters in it. Later heroine herself started doing such songs.

But I think item songs made a comeback in 90s with well known heroines doing them. Ghatak had this song from Mamta Kulkarni, Fiza had Sushmita's song. Earlier only heroine would do all sorts of songs. 90s movies (I can't pin-point the exact which started it) brought the trend of songs added to the film. Whole film used to be promoted on basis of that song. Anyone has any idea which film started item songs trend? It's one hell of a pathetic trend!

JEETENDRA and SOUTH REMAKES: Before any Khan, it was this man in 80s who revived his career and gave string of hits in remakes of South films! All BS masala was brought by him and so were South Indian imports like Sridevi, Jaya Prada who initially only had looks but didn't even have fluency in Hindi.

The only difference is that he wasn't flying in air and doing OTT action. But borrowing heavily from South was his doing!
