preity was never that big to start with- 2003 was her year with KMG and KHNH, in 2004 even despite VZ rani stole the limelight by winning almost all best actress awards for HT and also became the hero of VZ by her brilliant performance,
She saw a good jump from 2002-2004. I think she was never that passionately interested as she herself always said that stardom would not last for forever, also her lack of script sense and what will click with the audience (signing movies like JBJ etc) also her not re-inventing herself- she was the cute bubbly girl and remained that way, people got bored of her eventually.
Its sad to see her comeback movie being shelved as there are no distributors to buy it!
