JJWS is a campus life saga like several such films of 90s. A TZP or RDB can be called unconventional, every film is not unconventional!

- Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Ghulam, Sarfarosh, Ishq are not clean hits. All are either above average or semi hits. 1947 Earth was a flop. Rangeela is listed as semi hit at some places and super hit at others. Raja Hindustani is an ATBB but behind Salman and SRK's ATBBs (HAHK, DDLJ).

CDI had a good script too..But Swades had great script but SRK couldnt make it a hit..And Aamir has made most risky movies blockbusters which other actors couldnt even dare to try and so rejected..😆 So Talaash being semi-hit isnt a big deal cause that happens with every superstar not just Aamir.

Why talking about his CDI when his recent one with all the ingredients for a BB has barely managed to get a hit tag. Like talaash- JTHJ has a range of verdicts from above average to hit.

Its not a good way to bring up srk by pulling down aamir- 3 idiots till date is the most successful movie FYI!

What risky films did Aamir make "blockbusters" of except RDB, Lagaan and TZP?

And who says he doesn't stick to one genre? In 90s, initially he stuck to playing lover boy in college. After Rangeela he played the poor tapori/man of streets kind of guy (Ishq, Ghulam). Only Sarfarosh, Earth onwards he did different characters.

Of late he has stuck to social issue and youth films from where he earned his different image. Lagaan, RDB, TZP, 3I, Mangal Pandey are all social or patriotic theme films. PK is another forthcoming social film.

This year both Aamir and SRK movies underperformed at the BO... One a semi-hit and other a hit... There was a lot of hype and lot of expectation on both the movies and clearly those movies did not live up to that... It happens... Its hard to pin point the reasons...

This is why I call it a guaranteed success and a safe choice. Even the Rajkumar Hirani film is no test because he gave hits to down and out Sanjay Dutt also with Munnabhai films. LRM was a bigger grosser than both Aamir's Fanaa and RDB in 2006.
