Finally watched it..and d very thing which i wanna share is it is not at all like Kahaani...😊

Now Talaash is a ver well made movie...u can feel the suspense and thrill throughout d movie..it is slow but not dat much...d 1st half passes swiftly in reveder are sm xceptionally good scenes...which will give u goosebumps...about d end...yes dat wasn't very convincing... u can easily figure out d climax during d interval( dats all bcoz u have so many discussions going on about d end..)I loved d dialogues sp dat of Amir and Bebo...👍🏼

Performance wise everyone was flawless...Amir's expressions throughout d movie were fab...u can feel his pain, frustration, grief...Kareena was impressively well...d ada with which she delivers her dialogue is supeb. and not to forget she looked sensational...Rani was very convincing in her short role...felt so bad for her...heard she ws asked not to apply make-up...still she looked beautiful...Nawazuddin...dis guy is a dynamite..u give him any role and he'll shine...👏

Overall a decent movie...i would've given a 3.5 but extra 0.5 for d performances..so 4/5 from my side...😊

I watched it! liked it a lot, and I didn't feel the pace of the film at all. I knew I wouldn't. That's the beauty of suspense movies. Yes, it's predictable. Even if I hadn't known the big secret I still would have figured it out. There are plenty give-aways, First one being in the first scene itself, when a dog barks before superstar Armaan's car crashes into the sea.

But then again, this isn't one of those films whose entire credibility depends upon how dhamakedhaar the climax is. This premise of this film is to not just to unravel one mystery or find the murderer, this is a film about search for hope and a reason to go on in life. The climax doesn't just reveal the murderer, but it also expresses, in a lot of ways, how important it is to move on in life to be truly happy.

If you're a fan of nail biting, edgy, fast paced films then this one is definitely not for you. This film is more about perspectives. It's like reading a well written crime novel that follows the narrative through the protagonist's eyes. Every move, every feeling, every thought is documented. On the flip side it could have done away with the flashback sequence which for me took away from the intrigue. A good suspense movie should never be relegated to spoonfeeding.

Aamir was absolutely amazing. Understated, quite and apparently in control. But spiraling down his own personal hell inside. Kareena has some of the best lines in the film. She adds the right amount of mystique and sorrow to her performance. This is one film which I've genuinely liked her in after Omkara. Rani M for me was the one who evoked the biggest emotional reaction. She is at her natural best, and her angst comes across beautifully. The one little moment where she finally laughs makes you smile as well. Finally Nawazuddin Siddique, boy what a talent! he's terrific in whatever he does and he completely absorbs Temur's character. This man is slowly becoming my favorite actor.

Overall, go for this film if you're a fan of intense suspense films that focus more on characters rather than the "big mystery"

3.5/5..or actually 3.75/5 :)

Talaash: The Brief 100% Spoiler-Free Review!

Talaash is not groundbreaking cinema nor is it going to change anybody's life. Watching Talaash is like watching a world class athlete at the top of her game - a Mary Kom, if you will - the beauty of the film is in the skill and craftsmanship on display. The feeling I was left with after Talaash was not the giddy joy of seeing an underdog outperform expectations or the shock of seeing something novel but a deep satisfaction at seeing a lot of talented people come together to create something beautiful.

Harkening back to the moody Ashok Kumar noir films of the 1950s, Talaash begins with the mysterious death of film star Armaan Kapoor and we follow police inspector Surjan Singh Shekhawat (Aamir Khan) as he tries to unravel the plot threads that will lead him to the truth. He meets a mysterious randi (Kareena Kapoor) named Rosie, who drops tantalizing hints about the case, and wanders the streets with her late at night. Meanwhile, at home, Suri faces trouble with his wife Roshni (Rani Mukherjee), who is troubled by his absence.

First, the performances. Aamir is Aamir, naturally, but it is wonderful to see Rani and Kareena really sink their teeth into some meaty material. The two leading ladies command your attention whenever they are in the frame and proved yet again that if they had scripts worth their time and efforts, they could easily join Vidya Balan in the solo heroine film club. Bebo layers a real sadness under the theatrical and coquettish behavior of a woman paid to seduce and Rani completely disappears into Roshni, showing us a woman struggling just to live day-to-day. The other two standouts among the cast were man-of-the-moment Nawazuddin Siddiqui as lame errand boy Tehmur and Sheeba Chaddha as aging randi Nirmala. Sheeba, especially, leaves a strong impression - she tells Nirmala's entire life story with just her eyes.

Although Aamir is the hero and protagonist of the film, every single female character was treated with dignity and respect. It is the rare film that has a man talking to a randi as if she is a real person and not just A Tragic Figure or Object of Derision. The red light district depicted in Talaash isn't anything we haven't seen before but we get a fresh and unbiased look at the inhabitants. As Armaan Kapoor's death shows us at the beginning, the red light district will always be tied to those with riches and power and if anybody gets painted as wicked, it's those who exploit the less fortunate for their own pleasure. But for anybody wary of seeing yet another film in the mode of Madhur "Female Exploitation King" Bhandarkar, be assured that Talaash is on the opposite end of the spectrum.

The last point I think I can touch on without spoiling anything is the style of the film. Talaash isn't one of those "Hindies" (I gag every time I have to type that abomination of a word) like Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, it falls firmly under the traditional umbrella of Hindi cinema. The songs aren't lip-synced but they are an integral part of the storytelling, the acting style is much more Eastern than Western, and there is a strong sense of the mystical or spiritual permeating the entire film. In other words, the heart of the film is far closer to Dadamoni's Kismet than to LA Confidential.

It's another strong effort from director-writer Reema Kagti, co-writer Zoya Akhtar, and Excel Entertainment and if this is the new direction of Bollywood, I, for one, welcome it.

WATCHED IT!!!

Saw Talaash today and I have to say that I really liked the movie!! The three lead actors - Aamir, Kareena, and Rani really lifts the film. There couldn't have been better actors to portray such layered characters, loved this trio.

The script was good and I was intrigued throughout. The fact is, this movie doesn't really have a lot of suspense - suspense is actually quite low, surprisingly. What works for the movie is its emotional factor and it is also very gripping. The three characters' layers (especially Aamir's) really gets you and that is where the film worked the most. So this can actually be called an emotional film instead of a suspense thriller. But I was captivated throughout and the film does not falter once in grabbing your attention - at least for me it didn't.

Coming to the performances:

Aamir: I love this guy. This is no new fact for me or this forum. I love Aamir and damn! He was phenomenal as Surjan Singh Shekhawat. I would say Aamir was the best part about this film (though Kareena and Rani do a really fine job as well!). Surjan's frustration at his carelessness, his seriousness when he's investigating, his calmness when he's around Rosy - everything was beautifully portrayed by this man. I especially love when Aamir shouts, like at the psychic. And I love when he cries. One of only actors who can cry really well. The final scene was heartmelting!

All in all, Aamir was just amazing!!

Kareena: A spectacular performance. No where did she go OTT or underplay her acting. Rosy was a subtle character and Kareena played her effortlessly. I loved this performance of hers - one of her career bests. At some places she even outshone Aamir. Rosy's flirtatious nature brought light to a dark film. Loved her! :)

Rani: Although she had a small role, it was very prominent. As a depressed mother Rani nailed the act. I felt bad for her so many times. Just wanted to give her a hug! Rani too was really good.

Nawazuddin: Felt bad when he died. 😔 Although a short role, he always always manages to leave a wonderful impression. Loved the chase with him, so Bollywood. 😆

Raj Kumar Yadav: Didn't have much to do but he was good as well. I was laughing at his character's state when Surjan and Roshni were fighting and he was unwillingly there watching it all. How awkward. 😆

*SPOILERS*

Whatever that was said about the ghost and the supernatural element to this movie (which is easy to understand just before the interval) - although I do agree that it certainly looked a bit odd I have to say that didn't affect me as much. I was too engrossed in the movie, in the depth of the characters to think of anything else. I did wonder though if Surjan and Roshini will be reading Karan's supposed letters all their life to give them a sense of relief? I mean, what if it was not Karan writing those letters? I'm not sure if ghosts/spirits exist, but that did seem a bit far-fetched.

Another thing, considering that Rosy is a ghost, how did she give Surjan all the clues to solve the case? Considering that only Surjan could see Rosy, that meant Surjan had all the solutions to the case, right?

*END SPOILERS*

Other than those, I thought the movie was very well done. I enjoyed it a lot! It really really does a wonderful job in creating three strong characters and gripping you to their story. This is not like other supernatural thrillers, it is different and unique and I loved it. I felt it ended way too fast. When the 'Intermission' showed up I was a bit shocked - that first half went by so quick. No where did I feel the pace was too slow and started feeling bored. Everything was constantly happening, whether emotionally it is gripping you or something happens regarding the case.

Sigh. I can go on and on about this movie. It's been a couple of hours since I've seen it and I just cannot stop thinking about it. I'm constantly going back to a scene and remembering what happened, dissecting everything and understanding the depth - beautiful. And the songs fit in perfectly with the movie. I wasn't a big fan of it at first when the album came out, but they blend in so well with the movie. It really does a wonderful job in gripping you and keeping you glued to the screen so GO watch it, guys! It's wonderful! :)

4/5 (Three stars for the three lead actors, .5 for the story and .5 for the emotional aspect)

Talaash Second Day Business

Sunday 2nd December 2012 11.00 IST

Boxofficeindia.Com Trade Network

Talaash had growth on day two as it collected around 14.50 crore nett adding to the 12.50 crore nett it collected on day one. The two day total is around 37 crore nett.

The film showed huge growth in the North as day one was not too strong. Both Delhi/UP and East Punjab showed 25% growth. Mysore was also fantastic.

The mass market held collections similar to the day before. If Sunday shows the same growth again the film will come out with a very good weekend.

Reliance Big Pictures
Kareena Kapoor in a scene from 'Talaash.'

By Robert Abele

The provocative noir experience that "Talaash" promises, with its jazzily scored, moodily lighted opening montage of a Mumbai red-light district at night, is nowhere to be found once this meandering mystery begins.

Sparked by the enigmatic death of a Bollywood star, co-writer/director Reema Kagti's narrative tracks the investigation, its effect on the slum denizens who had shady dealings with the dead actor, and the grief-stricken home life of Inspector Surjan (a severely mustachioed Aamir Khan) and his teary wife (Rani Mukerji), who lost their son in a tragic accident.

Floating in and out of the action is an alluring prostitute (Kareena Kapoor, effortlessly sexy), who is either trying to seductively distract our grim-faced hero or help him solve the case.

VIDEO: The Envelope Screening Series

Though suffused with a certain humanism about shattered lives and wretched souls, as a movie it's got minimal momentum, with scenes routinely feeling disconnected from each other as Kagti tries to juggle mournful family drama, societal underbelly empathy and police procedural, without ever staying ahead of any half-awake moviegoer.

The normally charismatic Khan is almost unbearably morose here, but Mukerji manages to apply some radiance to her melancholy.

Ultimately the movie's many strands come together for a final twist, but it's too little too late for this regrettably mediocre Bollywood import.

Finally watched the movie I was waiting for the most this year.I can't even say how mad I was when the release was delayed in June. But after watching it,I am really disappointed.I don't know about others but I personally thought this movie would be a gripping thriller but the movie was something completely different.I thought the movie lost its plot midway.Like its okay if they want to show human emotions and all and make it like a drama but when i see a suspense movie or a thriller,i expect he movie to keep me glued and guess what would be the next scene rather than feeling sad for the characters.Honestly,I expected a very gripping story like Kahaani but somehow that element of suspense was missing. And not to mention, the climax was ridiculous.I mean it's okay if the climax doesn't appear to he believable but at least it should be interesting.

Now to the parts i liked...the direction...loved it! The way they showed Mumbai nightlife through Muskaanein Jhooti Hain song was amazing...and since i love bokeh effect,it was so good to see bokeh in every scene 😆,the locales...excellent and stays true to the story, the little light hearted scenes here and there was good.

And the performances...TOP NOTCH acting by Aamir,Kareena and Rani.Beautifully portrayed all the three main characters.👏and Nawazuddin is A class.👍🏼

Would give the movie 2.5/5.

Edit: I LOVED Kareena the most in the film. She has some of the best dialogues and her screen presence is fantastic.
