Hahaha my dad grumbled so much when I dragged him off to watch CDI (my sister was like "hockey, how boring!" and refused to come so my mother had to stay behind with her)...and at the end, he was like that was AWESOME, we should go watch again and he hates Shah! 😆

My theater was too far away at that time, or I would have watched more times on big screen..but I've seen it so many times since..such an awesome girl power movie and HOW did Shah deliver na? 🥳 LOVED every second of it!

i think its consistency! this guy has never disappointed in the genre he is known for- romance! and people can trust him with this with closed eyes especially in overseas where there is a huge demand for this genre compared to masala

He's the most popular Indian actor here in Sri Lanka and we always get his movies released here in par with India or else where. No other actor's movies get this treatment because SRK sells here like hot cookies 😆

His choice of films. They're geared towards the NRI's. Just like Masala sells in India, Family-romantic sagas do it for the NRI's.

DDLJ, KKHH, DTPH made him the darling of the NRI's and he always will be.

1. His genre of movies which is romance is always more appealing to NRI audience. Most of the NRI audience still remebers bollywood as a synonym of romance, love and good music. The masala movies will not apeeal to overseas audience much since who would want to see a copied action when they can watch originals (hollywood) Whereas when it comes to romance even hollywood can't beat bollywood.

2. His not being a star son and being an outsider how big he has made for himself on his own. Many NRIs can relate to this since they themselves are in the same.

3. He is very good speaker and wherever he goes he connects to the audience and leaves a lifelong impression. He has spoken in many countries and many places worldwide and whosoever listens to him is sure to become his fan

4. Many of his movies like DDLJ, KHNH, KANK have him playing and NRI character and that also adds to his popularity

Very well said. I don't agree with 2nd point but rest of them all hit the bullseye.

Also i would like to add his movies everything is glamorous. No poverty...Good Visuals..Big Houses...Foreign Locations..

I remember watching K3G in theater and there was a lady sitting besides me and she was interested in clothes and jewellery than the movie.

Karan Johar has gone on record he makes movies for NRI audiences.
