People do make deals with God.

I , for one, believe that I pay a price for everything that I get. In order to get something , I do give up something.

So? Its my faith and my way of life. That doesn't make me abnormal. We all have an individual relationship with God. And those who don't get it do not understand the magic of having a relationship with God.

Exactly. It made sense to me after watching the movie. When I heard about it before watching it, I was like WTH!😆 But I found the story not as bad as what some people describe it to be. Makes total sense to me cause there are people like Meera in this world.

Exactly. You need to understand the character. Not everybody is like you. There are different kinds of people in the world and they are not ILLOGICAL!😳

True and it's a very normal thing for many people.

Also I think Katrina could relate to the character a lot, she is a very spiritual person. She believes that god has had his hand on her. She is a strong believer in destiny. She has certain religious things she does and religious stuff she wears. And I think that's completely fine, it really works for those who are believers in such a way, they really achieve something out of it.

I make deal with all the Gods...don't leave out any of them...I had to take this test...so on the day of test..i kept Bhagwantji's pic in purse...I wore a cross in my neck and one of my friends had given me the Holy water when she went from Haj..I drank tht water...and my hubby is watching me all amused...saare Gods ko makkhan laga rahi hai...and when I passed...i told him see it works...😆...so faith in God is such a thing that u cannot judge another person's faith by the way u think..its as simple as that...

If you didn't want anyone to make this about you (in this case, anyone = me), then you shouldn't have passed judgements on other people and their valid points either. So everyone else is making shit up (not going to deny this, some people are), but you're not?

Count me in!
I think the whole business around making deals w/ God also has a sub context of trying to do the right thing or improving yourself to become better...for eg. many times we say we'll leave this bad habit, if we pass in exam etc. And Meera has been someone who has done it from a really young age, so it becomes a typical part of her life, a way she deals w/ stuff. There is so much discussion that could be done with the issues brought up by this movie...but here no one is willing to do that..rather they'd talk about the "illogical points" or, be assertive to prove JTHJ ain't bigger than ETT 🥱

@bold: OMG! How did you know what Meera says w/o watching the movie? 😲😆 No kidding, she says something really similar to SRK's character.

That whole negotiating with the Jesus was pretty stupid. You really think God is that selfish that he will only give you something if he takes something away from you ? I do not believe that and thats why to me it was a stupid reason to go away from Samar. That was the biggest flaw of the film right there and major reasons why alot of ppl will not sympathise with Meera.

I don't get what all the rage is about though...

if everyone always tried to think from the character's perspective, then no one would ever dislike ANY movie or ANY role.

In that case, every single scene in Bollywood is justified!

It's just a difference of opinion TBH.
Everyone dislikes SOMEthing

@Puffin

I will be honest with you. I am not a Kat fan but I do not dislike her unnecessarily. Now, that you have mentioned her , i remember reading an interview of hers where she had said that she feels very lonely in the city and maybe am reading too much but it seemed like heartbreak was a part of her life. It was in 2010, i think.

After that , somehow, i never had the heart to take any dig at her. And why? She is just living her life in her own shell and she never said that she was going to be some exemplary iconic heroine.
