Why though? and why should YRF give up on those screens 😕? I mean, if u want to host a huge party, u book the caterers or the band or the hall or lawn or whatever months in advance ... if a flight to ...say Delhi during a busy holiday season has one seat left, it goes to the guy with the reservation or whoever came first ... same with hotels .. same with everything! if its not merit/reservation then its first come first served (especially if the parties involved come to an agreement about the financial aspect as well)

When movies are released, we are told that its releasing on this date and later they tell us about the number of screens as well ... they dont come up with those figures out of thin air ... these screens are pre booked ...

Even if someone was mad enough to decide on releasing his movie on Independence Day/Eid .. they couldnt have done it bcos all the screens would be running ETT ... Dabangg 2 was announced as Christmas release when it was still in production (or pre production) .. same with all the movies tht are announced isn't it? to corner the market.. to ensure that u'll have enough screens available? would they have announced Dabang2 as a Christmas release if say Dhoom 3 was releasing on that same date? and the screens were booked for it? Hell would they even have announced Dabaang 2 as a Christmas release unless they were sure that the date was open aka screens and theaters were available?

JTHJ was announced as Diwali 2012 release when they first announced the movie .. this year we were thinking, how can they release on diwali when they are still shooting but obviously they had planned the whole thing .. planned the schedules and the post productions to ensure they'll be ready by diwali 2012 and they are! Why would SOS announce itself as diwali release without even knowing if they would be able to get screens in the markets they were targeting?

I dont really believe that coercion thing ... CCI wouldnt have outright rejected his complaint if that was the case ... most studios plan their releases carefully ..ensure that everything is in line before announcing any dates or whatever ... i dont see anything wrong with booking theaters in bulk for several of ur releases ... isnt that common practice? it would be ridiculous if PHs (especially those that release more than one film in a year) go to the negotiating tables again and again and again to make deals about each of their films ... far easier and hassle free to have all the details fixed at the same time ...kind of like publications and their deals with authors for multiple books or PH's multi film contracts with actors...

I guess this the extened interview! I never heard Ajay so open in a interview, he seems cleary upset on Yashraj productionhouse. To call them a lair! Must give it to his fighting spirit for his rights. And he cleary has a point. We should not support monopoly-positition. It is diwali two movies can be shown! But should be equeal and let the audience decide then! Hope this is resolved if not then I hope it will prevented next time. All the best to the movies.

by using the reasoning of SRK fans yes he own diwali slot ...if YRF can own it and SRK fans can say YRF releases their movies on diwali hence they have every right to release on diwali but ajay does not so going by this logic they shld rememebr its ajay who is releasing his movies on diwali since past few years except just last year when ra one came ( SRK movie NO YRF film) so YRF shld have chose another date 😉

it means ur frnd is not aware whats happening in the world ...he/she shld chk the current news often 😉 ...
means if ur frnd has never heard of SOS that does not mean this movie has no buzz but it means ur frnd has limited knowledge and ignorant

let's wait till the release and
dhoke aur makkari se kisi film se zayada earn karne se jeet nahin milti hai aur na hi star power show hoti hai ...
if JTHJ will score more than SOS it won't be bcz of SRK's star power but bcz of YRF's dirty games and yash chopra's death and Thanx to salman's star power that they managed to get so many screens
this movie never got any buzz before Yash chopra's death ...and thats the fact

What you are assuming is that the theater owners would pick the same ratio of theaters to show the two movies. What is monopolistic is using the clear clout YRF had with ETT to lock screens for this movie. This is similar to Microsoft piggybacking Internet Explorer on to its operating systems. There was an anti trust case against Microsoft - which they lost by the way.
Sure this is dirty business where money making is the goal...but Ajay is right - it is illegal.

I am sure that the Competition Commission of India has more able bodied people than you and they have made the decision.
