Ahhh!! Thank you Tanni. Embarrassed 😆
I don't really try to remember names unless they REALLY impress me. Like Nawazuddin...loved him in both Kahani and GOW. Won't forget him. 😛 The guys this industry is churning out these days don't interest me at all. After Hrithik, I believe no one really impressed and I was quite resistant to Ranbir too but it changed after Barfi.
Esha Gupta...never watched any of her movies. And those girls in GOW were Richa and Huma? Good!! Especially Huma. That Paoli whoever...no idea. 😆

Btw, whom do you think has the maximum potential to be the next superstar aka Ranbir Kapoor?

Many actors have made great debuts but have fizzled out in the long race...Shahid Kapoor being a prime example! Imran Khan started with a hit, but has somehow not lived up to the hype generated by JTYJN! Not even talking about the likes of Harman Baweja, Jacky Bhagnani, Uday Chopra, Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna, Fardeen Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi - they were all recepients of filmfare and other awards for best male debut! None of them could make a mark in bollywood despite the head-start!
Whereas, there have been actors like Saif Ali Khan, who was written off with his first few films and ended up becoming a National Award winner and a popular leading star. Even Akshay was written off with his first film and look where he is now!
Its one thing making an impressive debut in bollywood...quite another to convert the launching pad into a full fleged success story...like SRK!

^^ Poppy...don't think Ranbir is a superstar YET. He is good and will sustain his success, that I'm sure of. But superstar? Nah! And you are right...the names you mentioned...none of them made it big.
Some, like Jacckky Bhagu or whoever is so pathetic, makes my skin crawl. Imran Khan...lacks something, can't put a finger on it. Shahid --- he has potential but he's sooo short. I don't like short 'heroes'. 😛 The rest...the less said the better.
For now, the guys in their 40s reign. Sallu, Aamir, Akshay, SRK.

Mithibani,
Yeah...Ranbir is not a superstar in the sense that the trio of SRK, Salman and Aamir are!
But then they have been around for more than 2 decades and the stardom hasn't been instant! QSQT was Aamir's big hit, but he followed it up with almost a dozen flops...and bounced back only with Dil, from which his career took a U-turn! He was almost written off before Dil released and became a blockbuster!
Same with Salman...he started off with a bang, followed with a lot of hits, but then a period of lull came in his career, where he was giving flops left, right and centre...his superstardom is actually the most recent amongst all the stars...starting with Wanted, 3 years back! Till then, he was a popular star, but not the mega star that he is now!
SRK has been the most consistent in terms of being a star, right from his first film! Infact, its lately that his sitaare have been in gardish! But then, he has ruled bollywood for 20 years, undisputed!
In comparison, Ranbir is doing really well...considering he is barely 5 year old in the industry.
Frankly, I don't see Ranbir ever getting popularity like any of the three Khans (because of his choice of scripts, he doesn't go for commercial / mass entertainers)...but he will be in his own league as an actor and star (something along the lines of Aamir Khan!)
Amongst the newcomers...they all look very promising...but first film is not exactly the best platform to see whether an actor has the potential to become the next big thing or not! They are all good actors and have the requisite star like quality in them, and since bollywood is in such an experimental mode these days, they will all manage to create a niche for themselves in some way or the other...but not sure, which one of them will be able to acheive success like one of the Khan's!🤔 (Somehow, I feel that after the era of Big B and the Khans...bollywood will take a very, very long time in finding stars like them who command the kind of following they do!)
PS: Did anyone notice, all the talked about debutants of the year have been Punjabis? Khurana, Kapoor, Malhotra, Dhawan?

If I have to pick the award winners, Uh... who are we to pick them. Filmfare will give their awards to YRF/Dharma/UTV kids.

Arrey Bhaiyya...Filmfare does its function on the grounds of YRF Studio. Unke actors ko award nahin denge, toh tumhe denge kya?😆
On another note, I loved Ayushman in VD...but lets face it, he was helped by a super-brilliant script and an ensemble of extremely talented actors! It was VD as a film which helped Ayushman rather than the other way round!
In that respect, Arjun Kapoor was saddled with the worst script this year, the most despicable character for a leading man and on top of that, made to look like a sadak-chaap in his very first film...he still managed to make it work somehow! Considering that he debuted with YRF (whose studio grounds is leased by Filmfare for free) and he had the most challenging role amongst the newbies...he stands the strongest chance to win the best debutant!
PS : Siddharth and Varun are the luckiest that way...they were made to look so gorgeous in every single frame and given ample oppurtunity to not just show their talent in dancing and acting, but also show off their abs and other body parts after every 60 seconds! Is it any wonder they are trending in twitter?
