Guys I know there is a thread about SOTY but I am trying to let anyone who hasn't seen this aware that this movie nothing like shitty High School Musical series. Infact this movie can be called legendary in many way if compared to that stuff.
I just watched it.
All I can say it's amazing.
VARUN - FANTASTIC. Best thing about the movie is him. Though I felt his character was very negative at bits till he decides to leave home because of his father but despite all that, he sat the screen on fire. Loved him in every sequence. Just disappointed that neither he gets a girl or win SOTY fairly. But all is fair when he stole the spotlight. His role at times remind you of Salman from Saajan and Jab Pyar Kissi Se Hota Hai Next SUPERSTAR.
SIDDHARTH - GREAT. Didn't have much expectations but after seeing the movie, it all changed. He was great in his bits. Especially when he slowly fells for Alia. Emotional scenes carried off well. Especially Dadi (Farida Jalal) dying scene. He can totally pull of that charming skill we've seen SRK doing over the years. Him accusing Varun of being gay in some scenes were pulled of well. Next Rom-Com star.
ALIA - BEAUTIFUL, GLAMOROUS & SUPERB. Despite being a story about 2 guys and their friendship. She carries her role well. She looked great. Acted gracefully. People didn't have much expectations from her but after seeing the movie. I can say one of the best female debuts this year. She did slightly remind of Kareena from K3G but she rather less OTT. And more adorable. Girl next door roles awaits her.
KAYOZE - SENSATIONAL, He reminds me of his father but still loved him from narration. From attempting dance to even that final drunk speech. All were pulled so well. Surprised how he actually left a mark behind in a lot scenes. You couldn't tell it was his first movie. Expect him to follow his father's footsteps.
SAAHIL - WONDERFUL. Another newcomer. His role actually the best of the supporting lots. Very effective. Great comedy scenes to even that narration. Loved his dialogue delivery. Especially breaking up friendship with Varun and delivering dialogues with use of Salman's movie names. He is a like a combo of Ritesh Deshmuke & Shreya Talpade. Can't wait to see him in next flick.
MANSI - NATURAL & CONVINCING. Her role was not overshadowed with other girls around. Loved her in narration and her bits in college. She was cute. But she was an amazing actor. She left you think to a lot of bits. Loved her in breaking apart from Aalia scene. Another girl to look out for.
SANA - SEXY. She looked great. Especially playing a college hottie you'd expect that. But I found her bits trying to gain Varun's attention were bit OTT. and her role as an attention seeking sl*t type just didn't do for me. But her arrogant character was still portrayed well. SHE DID WELL but I think she deserved a better role than just some college hotty. Can't wait to see her in more prominent roles.
MANJOT - HILARIOUS. Playing sardar boy. Loved it. It's like that kid from Kuch Kuch but older and talks often. Him being Kayozes date was sooo funny. It wasn't his debut but I still think he will be remembered for this movie. He was the only one who looked bit ages after 10 years.
RISHI - AMAZING. Loved him from start to end. Gay deans role kinda was for someone like to imagine on. But this guy surprised me to bits. Him thinking about romancing with Ronit Roy was too funny. Sad ending though.
RONIT.- HANDSOME & SHARP. He not only act well but look great for his age. Fit coach roles was well suited on him. Plays mature till the end.
RAM - REMARKABLE. Playing Varuns dad and technically the villain of this college drama, he was quite remarkable in a lot of scenes. Liked him alot indeed. Final scene with kicking Varun out was good.
Rest was good. Great seeing Farida Jalal and Sushma Seth in short roles.
STORY & DIRECTION - Good but nothing new. Yet the way presented was sooo BEAUTIFUL. It's like watching some shitty places looking like heaven. Loved all the scenes. After Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and K3G. This is Karan's next best work.
MUSIC - CHARTBUSTING. Loved all 6 songs so much. Set on different moods. Vele, typical going out songs. Kukkad, loved the whole introduction of actors. I wish a girl plays this song when I walk in Uni campus next. Ratta Maar, After 3 Idiots Give me some Sunshine. This is the best studying pressure based song I've heard, Ishq Wala Love, set in Kashmir. Looks beautiful. Sounds amazing. Very simple yet soothing. Disco Song - Gets your foot tapping. Loved the simple choreography. Benny Dayal sounds so much like KK. I loved Kajol, Farah & Vaibahvi in short cameos. BEST SONG OF THE MOVIE - RADHA. Everything about it was so good. Loved Varun's sequence in there but Alia stole the show. All six songs should make it top 50 songs chart 2012 with ease.
WATCH IT FOR SURE! One of the best musicals I've seen recent times. Not so typical. But at times it reminds you of such flicks, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Saajan, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and 3 Idiots. ALL DEBUTS ARE SUPERB. Karan takes you back to school. Makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you stay stuck to the seat till credits appear to say bye. You wanna relive your high school days??? You wanna know why college mates are the best bunch of people you'll meet in your whole life? Go watch it and find out why?
I RATE IT 4/5.
