Song title says Challa so everyone is assuming its Challa but Rabbi is singing it like Jhalla ...

so is it Jhalla and YRF has spelled it wrong as Challa ???? or it's Challa but Gulzar or ARR made Rabbi sing like Jhalla ??? bcz in other stanza too( rang satrangi one ) he sings Dhupp ( Dhoop ) like Dhoup or Dhop ...

Its Challa. SRK, Yash Chopra all call this song Challa..they wouldn't misspell it/say it wrong multiple times lol.

The context of the word challa in this song is basically the meaning of jhalla--a wanderer/crazy person. Maybe that's why Rabbi's challa sounds like jhalla.

Hopefully, this thread clears the confusion. Either way, YRF is proablly happy because even the spelling of the song from the movie is getting the audience attention.

so basically they made Rabbi sing it like Jhalla not CHalla

The meaning of Challa which Gurdaas maan , Babbu maan and Rabbi used in their songs , is same ... they used the word Challa for a Young Man ...

same meaning can be used for this movie song too rather than Jhalla ( mad ) 😕 and calling it challa ... so i feel it shld have been sung like Challa ...

its making ppl confused ... 😆

It is not jhallah...but it means that...it's the Punju word for it...that can be spelled like Challa I guess...but the pronunciation is different. With challa - the ring - you say it as challaa.

With the Punjabi equivalent of jhallah...you say it like jhallah but take the "jh" and replace it with "ch"

At least from the side of Punjab I am from aise kehte hain.

Sigh so hard trying to teach Punjabi pronunciation on the net via typing lol
