exactly I don't think Salman's fans are those typical fans who can't hear a word against him...but these bunch of same people constantly trying to demean him and his films is irritatingly annoying...in fact, sometimes I really can't believe those people and their acts! they are free to give the most negative remarks if they ever watch the movie but constantly talking nonsense without even watching it just speaks frustration, jealousy or some other mental emotion!

I watched it. And surprisingly, enjoyed it as well! I'm a complete anti-Salman Khan genre person (because he's the only person who defines the 'cringeworthy-cinema-yet-becomes-blockbuster' genre) but this film truly was an enjoyable fest, without the typical slapstick humor, pointless characters and complete lack of storyline. Knowing that Salman was the lead of the film, I didn't have too many expectations, but once the reels started rolling I found myself both having fun and not minding the obvious loopholes.

Ek tha Tiger is, in a nutshell, what I would call an actual masala entertainer. This is what I have been saying all along. There is nothing wrong with masala entertainers, but every film, masala or otherwise, needs to have the basic ingredient: A plot. This film has romance, drama, plenty of action - but all of that has been packaged seamlessly in a good story. Unlike Salman's previous offerings, which were nothing but 3 hours of Salman Khan extravaganza, ETT actually has some substance.

I'm not going to delve into the story because I'm sure everyone already knows about it. Coming to the performances, Salman Khan is finally not being himself, but playing a character. He is extremely limited as an actor, and his botoxed face and Hulk-esque persona limits his capabilities even more, but he makes a decent attempt at playing a spy. I would say his performance was average (in a good way) at best. He did the actions scenes really well though. Katrina Kaif was emotionless as usual, but this time I didn't feel like jumping into the screen and physically moving her facial muscles with my bare hands. Plus she was fairly decent in the action sequences. The chemistry between Salman and Katrina was good, and that's probably because of the way the characters were written.

Which makes me come to the real hero of this film - It's director, Kabir Khan. He holds the film together spectacularly without leaving a sore spot sore enough to make you gag in the screenplay (Nilesh Misra also to be acknowledged here). He maintains an equilibrium between romance, drama and action and doesn't allow any of those elements to fall into the slapstick or OTT category. He keeps it simple and straightforward, which is what actually makes the film tick. The music and background score is good as well. The biggest and best highlight of the film, it's action is good and original, and not a carbon copy of South Indian action flicks.

Ofcourse the film also has it's share of drawbacks and loopholes. It's predictable for the most part - which is probably the biggest drawback for a thriller/spy film. Also, Salman Khan pretty much sucks in the dramatic sequences, which further highlights the fact that he has completely lost his charm or range as an actor. What remains is star power which is also going to diminish soon.

Overall, I'd say go for it. It's a fun film and you're definitely going to have a good time if ofcourse, you're willing to ignore the unreal and almost bordering on silly portrayal of covert spies. 3.5/5

Ek Tha Tiger, by far, is Salman Khan's most entertaining and accomplished works in recent times," Bollywood critic Gaurav Malani in the Times of India.

Praising the spy-thriller's "tongue-in-cheek" dialogue, "credibly crafted" screenplay and skillful direction, the film, thought Mr. Malani, scores above most Indian espionage flicks for its ability to maintain a cohesive narrative.

Mr. Malani also was impressed with the movie's "imaginative" action sequences which break free from the stereotyped "exaggerated, convoluted and commonplace" action in most masala entertainers. Director Kabir Khan, he noted, "strikes a perfect balance between heroism and realism in this department."

"A two-hour long adrenaline rush" is how film critic Aniruddhha Guha summed up the "action extravaganza" in a Daily News and Analysis
