Pragya, you missed the secret of the other actress, the one who is always single till married. Guess she went to a different gynec. Actually from what I have heard twice, once after her debut movie and the second time around 2006.

There are several things I never get about "the casting couch" (and why is it called the casting couch? why not "the casting bed?" it would make more sense) is what makes these directors keep their end of the deal?

If someone is sleazy enough to require sex to cast someone in a role, then I'm sure they could also easily say "well, too bad, better luck next time" after they get what they want. Why in the world do they keep their promise and really cast these females in the role they promised to?

All these questions make me wonder if "the casting couch" phenomenon has been far too exaggerated. Is it absolutely necessary for every single female to sleep around to get roles? What about the "ice queens" who got roles for decades without sleeping around? What makes them different? Is it really necessary to succumb to these director's ridiculous requirements to be cast?

And if everyone fools around with everyone, what about the actors and actresses who ended up married? How did they accept each other like that, knowing all they know? (I know many actresses end up marrying overseas for that reason).

Anyone want to answer?

Large numbers dont get their part of the deal and most of them keep quiet and remain satisfied with bit roles or supporting roles in movies. Once a while they turn into a Preeti Jain.

I think the givers can be divided into starlets and established stars

and the recipients into the top notch(producer/director) and the support staff(ADs etc)

The starlets fall prey to the support staff...And they are pretty much ready to do anything...even if unsure whether the favour would be returned...thus we have cases like shakti kapoor/aman verma etc!

The established stars and the top notch is a different case...from what I can infer is that the lady is already cast and the part on the couch is just a formality before she gets to sign on the dotted line...yash chopra cast pz and rani in veer zaara and slept with them in exchange...at that time these girls were the best actresses around...thus it was a win-win situation for everyone...in contrast even though roshan cast pc in krish it got her more brickbats...

umm..why is it called the casting couch...if i was to hazard a guess.."auditions" would take place in the offices in the old times...and to have a bed in the office would be strange...they'd probably have to manage with couches...kidding!

most marriages in b-town are pretty much open in nature...apparently gauri and suzzane have boy toys in goa and nearby islands..the john-bips relationship was another very open relationship...so ya they do accept each other...it's more to do with getting social acceptance and widening their fan base!

From what I have heard the extremely rare cases of HIV are covered up as cancer and left at that!! But I guess now everyone is more cautious and cases non existent!!

Last point...The reason behind actresses who have slept around and are yet not cast in the movie not making a hue and cry about it is coz bollywood is a very close knit industry...ppl who speak up against any member of the fraternity(vivek oberoi) are shunned for good! No one wants to take that risk!!

And if the director gets tired of sleeping with the actresses...they swing the other way for a change!!
