Shounak in his post above yours has put across what I wanted to say too. IMO its ok to discuss, debate. But lately since the past few months limits of decency have been crossed many times. Respect for feelings of fellow members have gone for a toss. And it started with the 'fun' some members wanted to have by riling up fans. Its natural to react to that. The reaction may not been ideal though. Unfortunately now its all become personal.

but when you start throwing abuses around, it doesn't do much to the whole environment of the forum.. and the harsh criticism will happen when some of the fans support their favs blindly... i have favourites too, and i can easily call names as well... but there must be some limit that must be drawn and understood for any civilized discussion...
how is using profanity and using abusive language solving any issues...? getting personal with others... and if someone has made a comment that is offensive, why do people see that as a license to settle their own scores... i may not be the smartest cookie in the jar but i'm not stupid either... it's obvious people use these things as excuses to start making personal comments about that member, because that member has previously criticised their beloved... it's extremely immature and distasteful...
there must be some difference between animals and humans... unfortunately, it's hard to draw that line looking at the situation on BS currently...

I personally know hardcore Salman fans who have no issue with me writing against him. That's what I appreciate. What creeps out is when you start defending the celebrity without any evidence mocking the other and getting personal. This is when people begin to rile up fans.

The mocking and getting personal bit can certainly be annoying. More so if you are looking for a discussion or debate. Even maybe riling up once in a while is also ok. But crossing the limit isnt. How difficult is it to ignore such people anyway? Fans wont change their minds...and nor will riling up fans affect the celebrity. At best people will get fed up and quit the forum. I have seen many old timers mentioning how Shahid fans were riled up and they quit for good. Some regret that they drove away this set of fans. Do we really want that to happen again? Drive away all fans till none are left? Wouldnt the forum just die out with only likeminded people around?

@Nuktacheen =Have you seen some some of abuses hurled at the fans? Starting from their education status to their place of residence to their job status. It is unfair to say that only fans are throwing abuses at the critics. In fact, thre are hardly any cohesive cluster of fans on I-F nowadays. Most fan groups consist of 1-2 vocal fans. But, the resident critics hunt in packs.

This is true Sanam. Today one fan was ridiculed for his poor English. Few days ago another fan was ridiculed as a stalker.

Oho - this is too much philosophy to handle on a thursday, when im thinking of 6-packs...beer, and fish fry. let me try

Why do fans on India Forum think that their life's sole purpose to promote their celebrity and bash all the others who share contrary opinion?
Because a week gets boring without some bashing. I mean, how long can you stare at your classmates pimply-face or your boss's nose hair before you wanna strangle them? This is therapy.

Why do they all do so much homework when their beloved does not give a rats ass to them at the end of the day?
Rats ass? They don't give give an ant's ass what we do to improve their ranking. we are all suckers - simple.

Why the hell does every discussion on celebrity get personal over members with all sorts of accusing, bashing, personal remarks, MID's, hate PM's etc?
Because what we can't do that to our BFs, GFs, spouses, parents and bosses.

Why is the Bollywood forum in specific has an overdose of insanity as compared to the other sections?
Hain??? Im new here, be gentle.

Even the rabid soap sections seem to stay in limits as far as personal remarks and comments are concerned?
Thats a lie, you liar!!

Where has the rational spirit of bollywood forum gone?
I suppose its gone the way SRK's common sense went or Rakhi Sawant's virginity went or Salman's manhood went. In other words, was it ever there? Now dont bash me for being honest.
