Rowdy Rathore Opens Big

by Shabdita Shrivastav (June 1, 2012)

This week's solo release, Rowdy Rathore starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha and directed by Prabhudheva, opened to a great response in most circuits and even to full houses in some sectors. Better still, distributors predict a great weekend for the film.

Hemant Shah of Tilak Enterprises says, "The all-India opening of Rowdy Rathore is 65 to 70 per cent while in Mumbai, it was 45 to 50 per cent. I feel the weekend shows across the board will receive a good response."

The film played to full houses during its opening in the Delhi-UP circuit. GD Mehta of Bobby Arts International says B and C circuits received a 100-per cent opening while some multiplexes in South Delhi took an opening of 70 to 80 per cent. Overall, the film has received a first-rate response."

Adds Surendra Saluja of Lakshya Movies, "It's an action film for the masses. In East Punjab the opening was only 50 per cent but its performance will improve over the weekend."

According to Sunit Singh of Aum Moviez in West Bengal, Rowdy Rathore took a mind-blowing opening in the territory. "It was 100 per cent in Bihar while in Nizam, multiplexes enjoyed an opening of 70 to 80 per cent. The film will have a fabulous weekend."

Sarang Chandak of Shri Rang Films says, "In CP, Rowdy Rathore opened to a very good response of 55 to 60 per cent. Yes, the film will definitely do good business."

In Rajasthan, Vasudev Chachan of Sunny Films remarks, "It's a massy film and took an opening of 80 per cent."

Rowdy Rathore: Biggest Day One For Akshay Kumar

by Rohini Nag (June 1, 2012)

Today, the box office counters were graced with the much-anticipated release of the year, Rowdy Rathore. The film, Prabhudheva's second directorial venture in Hindi, has mesmerised audiences from north to south. The upshot is that it's tagged as a mass entertainer but has impressed the classes as well. Consequently, the movie has drawn a fabulous response at many multiplex chains as well.

Rowdy Rathore has already earned a place alongside Bodyguard and Agneepath, and, mind you, the latter were released on national holidays. Thus, Rowdy Rathore is being dubbed as one of the biggest non-holiday openers of all time. The film also marks Akshay Kumar's second impressive outing this year, the first being Housefull 2, which crossed the Rs 100-crore mark at the ticket window.

In Mumbai, Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines says, "Rowdy Rathore took a fabulous opening and is expected to have a great weekend ahead. The all-India Day 1 NBOC should be around Rs 15 crore and in Mumbai Rs 6-7 crore."

In Gujarat, Ajay Bagbai of Rajvi Trade Link says, "The film has opened to very good numbers. All-India collections on its first day will be around Rs 15 crore and in Gujarat-Saurashtra, Rs 1 crore."

In Delhi-UP, Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts adds, "Rowdy Rathore is a fantastic film and has drawn a super response in the Delhi-NCR belt. The first-day collections will close at Rs 3.5-4 crore and nationally Rs 15 crore."

In East Punjab, Surendra Saluja of Lakshya Movies says, "Being a massy film, Rowdy Rathore has fabulous single-screen numbers. It also has impressive multiplex numbers. It has been assigned 16 shows a day in our multiplexes. Having opened at 70 to 75 cinemas, it is expected to cross Rs 1 crore on its opening day."

In CI, Manoj Jain of Neha Movies says the film opened at around 95 cinemas and is expected to collect Rs 60-65 lakh today. "It has a firm grip on the box office for the weekend as well."

In Mysore, B H Basha of Bahar Enterprises is equally jubilant, "Single-screen collections are far better than the multiplex numbers. Rowdy Rathore has opened at around 55 cinemas in the Mysore region and is expected to close day one at around Rs 35-40 lakh."

In Bihar, Rakesh Singh of Maa Sona Pictures says the film has had an extraordinary opening in his territory. "The Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer has created a buzz in our circuit. The film opened at around 128 cinemas, which is the second-highest in our region. It will earn around Rs 50 lakh today."

In Orissa, Jeetu Khandelwal of Movie Pioneers concludes, "Rowdy Rathore has drawn a response akin to that of Bodyguard and Agneepath. It's spectacular! The film opned at around 90 cinemas and is expected to wrap its first day at Rs 20 lakh. We are definitely looking forward to the weekend."

Saw Rowdy Rathore yesterday! Have to say that it is the first Masala Entertainer that I have loved in suc!h a long time!
Total paisa vasool movie!😆 Akshay was bloody brilliant...only he can carry goofy + sexy with such panache and ease! And boy, does he looks handsome or what?😲 Even with that 'Veerapan' style moustache, he can still look so dashing!
The action was a bit over-the-top and pretty violent at places, but the comedy was great too!
Sonakshi had nothing to do except looking pretty, which she did very well!
I loved the film, even though there wasn't much of a story and it was actually quite silly for most parts...but it was a thoroughly entertaining film...without a single moment of boredom!
That, I guess, is the ultimate aim of most bollywood films! When you leave the theatre, you should feel that you got your money's worth, which I certainly did!
@Smarie, who is the actor in the Tamil / Telugu version?

Point 2: I said people whistling and hooting happens in the posh USA theatres too when it comes to this genre of films...so it has nothing to do with illitracy and that it was a gross generalization...

Point 3: U said i was lecturing u abt things i didnt know and tht i may never have stepped in a single screen theatre myself...I retaliated by saying tht a hardcore rajinkanth fan like me cannot possibly go without ever stepping into a single screen theatre...and tht i do know abt single screen audiences...

Point 4: u made personal remarks...called me dumb coz i bought in rajnikanth failing to see the reason why i took his name was to justify my knowledge abt single screen/rural theatres...then wrote some dribble abt Ra.one and asked me to GROW UP out of no where...

Point 5: Then, when i refrained from arguing with tht "off tangent" paragraph, u said I was beating on the other side of the drum...😕😆

Its pretty clear who is...

tell me something smarie pants...are u really frustrated on the fact tht no one really gave ghaas to the kareena song...😕😆 well if that's so, i really feel sorry 😆

oh man here we go again...i never knew people sit on the other side of the computers..finding ways to make debates on sentences like this 'in simple words...illiteracy level was at peak in the hall 🤣' ... fair enuff...be my guest...i care a damn...i don't need to justify myself again and again
