Jannat 2s real love story is between tough cop Randeep Hooda and his gun-hustling informer Emraan Hashmi For those of you who think Jannat 2 is a love story between Emraan Hashmi and newbie Esha Gupta,youre wrong.Instead the film sheds light on the relationship between an arms dealer and a tough cop.When asked for his take on J2,producer Mahesh Bhatt says,The principal relationship of Jannat 2 doesnt involve Esha and Emi.It focuses instead on this cop (played by Randeep Hooda) and the street boy (played by Emraan).Interestingly,the cop-informer equation has been viewed as a very significant relationship. Bhatt recalls an Intelligence Bureau officer confessing to him that cops have a deeper relationship with their informers than with their wives! This guy told me,We protect our informers,we love them.We have a love-hate relationship with them.We feel betrayed by them sometimes,but we cannot do without them.They contribute much more to our lives than our wives do.They are our passive partners. Bhatt adds,If you ask me what is new about Jannat 2,it is the relationship between the policeman and the hustler.What is also new is the way Sonu Dillis character has been written.Emi has never played a character like this before he is what I call the salt of the earth;he has the native intelligence of the boy on the street and yet doesnt lose his innocence.This combination is more lethal than the guns he peddles. Referring to recent headlines between a certain cop and his informer Vijay Palande,the prime accused in two sensational murders,Bhatt says,Great novels have been written on the relationship between the cop and the informer,but this relationship is being explored in Indian cinema for the first time. Director Kunal Deshmukh too is confident that his film will take Emi and Hoodas relationship to the next level.He recalls how people were intrigued by the brief interaction between the two actors in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.In my film,these two have a more engaging equation, he says.
