hey guys!
In support of Aamir
The film industry rises as one to criticise the political backlash against Aamir Khan...but there are exceptions
• 'We support you aamir', says the entertainment industry...
* Yash Chopra
I convinced Modi that Aamir was not against development in the state but merely concerned that the people who have been affected by the project be rehabilitated. He had assured me that he will provide as much police personnel needed but I hoped that such a situation would not arise at all. Once I got the assurance we sent the prints of the film to Gujarat. But the exhibitors started receiving threats. They feared their life and property was in danger. So we told them to do what they thought was right. It is the government's responsibility to ensure the safety of every individual and his property. In this industry daily business counts. Till date, because of the situation in Gujarat I've incurred losses up to Rs. 1 crore at least. But this is not about the money, it is about principles. Just because a celebrity has expressed his views on the subject he is being held to ransom.
* Anil Kapoor
I believe what is happening is wrong. We are living in a democracy where everybody is entitled to freedom of expression. A film's show just cannot be stopped in this manner. They cannot curb someone's point of view.
* Anupam Kher
A lot of times, the film fraternity is accused of resorting to making statements only to get publcity. But we all know that Aamir Khan's stand is for a worthy cause. It is unfortunate that films have to suffer because people are not tolerant of other's views.
* Sanjay Chel
Aamir is fighting for the poor and Gujarat reacts like this? Do they not believe in democracy? If they are so sensitive then why don't all the American Gujaratis not return home, considering that Narendra Modi has been denied a US visa?
* Sudhir Mishra
Aamir has absolute right to his opinion. He has not said anything derogatory, but he has just expressed his sympathy for the poor. I support him. Besides, you can't blackmail anyone saying that you will stop their right to work. This is not justified at all.
* Pehlaj Nihlani
Political parties are doing this to gain mileage. Today, Yash Chopra may be able to absorb the loss but a smaller producer may not be able to, in the future. By next Friday if the film is not screened in Gujarat's theatres we are not to blame for any anti-government action taken .
... BUT WE DON'T
Shatrughan Sinha and Smriti Irani dissaprove of Aamir's stand
