Shahid Kapur has been signed on by a Mumbai production house to act in the Hindi remake of their Tamil film Vettai. And the hunt is on for lead actors in Bollywood to star in the film with Shahid.
According to industry sources, south actor Asin was one of the earliest choices for the Hindi version, which will be helmed by director Lingusamy.
But she allegedly did not take kindly to this. It is rumoured that Asin was fuming and sources close to her have supposedly said that at a time when she is acting with the likes of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, there is no need for her to do a film with Shahid.
She was also apparently not keen on playing sister to another actor (the Tamil film had Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul playing sisters).
As for Asin's latest release, critics allege that her role was as short as her choli in the film.
Considering that she has acted in south films in which she had equal footage as the hero and was numero uno at one time, her choice of recent Hindi films has come under fire.
Says a Kollywood industry source, "It's sad that she's been reduced to doing such roles with smaller actors like Jacqueline Fernandez and Zarine Khan. Considering she gave up her successful career in the south to focus on Bollywood, it's not like there's a queue of producers waiting to sign her on. Wish she'd make better choices!"
Despite several attempts, at the time of going to press, Asin remained unavailable for comment.
